May 14, 200422 yr Agon has saved so many runs. Earlier this year I was for benching him, but lately he has saved so many hits its amazing. People don't realize that he gets to things that people cant even dive to get to. He has shown that he can hit fairly decent like early last year. He just needs to boost his confidence
May 14, 200422 yr I think he is going to have a BA around 2.50 at the end of the season. The reason why he has such a low BA right now is because he has been in a slump and it is the beg. of the year so he can make his BA go up alot very fast. There have been a few times where he didnt get a hit when he deserved a hit...and if he would have got a hit during those AB's than his BA would be even better.
May 14, 200422 yr And don't yap on about his stellar defense. I'd take Jeter's crappy D and sweet wood over the Sea-Ass D and those pathetic excuses for at-bats anyday. sweet! we can get Jeter for Alex? let's make that trade! go go go! :plain I think that you can make a case for AGon being better than Jeter beause of his great defense. But the only problem is that people think that Jeter is better than he really is and people think that AGon is worse than he really is.

May 14, 200422 yr The only thing that makes me think Jeter could be an ego trip is his refusal to move to third and allowed A-Rod to play SS. Jeter absolutely sucks at SS, while A-Rod, somehow plays very good defense there.

Jeter absolutely sucks at SS, while A-Rod, somehow plays very good defense there. has Jeter actually flat out denied ARod from playing short? and personally, I think Jeter is pretty darn good at playing SS, and I dont need to see an equation like (+/- runs over matter x height + years in the minor leagues) from when I watch him, he is pretty good there
May 14, 200422 yr yea, Im just messin with you on the 2nd part I just dont see the Yanks moving Jeter to 3rd.... whether it makes that big of a difference or not
May 14, 200422 yr For all of you who took me literally, I wasn't throwing Jeter out there as a trade possibility or anything like that. It was more for the benefit of everyone who thinks defense justifies the fact that Sea-Bass cannot hit. As a matter of fact, he has never been able to hit outside of the first 4 months of his rook season. I do see alot of parallels to Derrick "The Human Fan" Lee last year with Sea-Bass. The big plus for Lee was his Gold Glove Defense. I don't miss D. Lee at all. And I wouldn't miss Sea-Bass either. And you can somehow try to quantify how many "runs he saves at SS" all you want, but the fact is he makes a third of the lineup crap. So go compare how many runs he's cost us at the plate. It's miserable. He is absolutely clueless at the plate, all the time.
May 14, 200422 yr Fish, we arent arguing about his O but his D his top notch and he saves a ton of runs, that is why he is on this team so start hatin on Ramon, because Sea Bass is stayin in the lineup :lol
May 14, 200422 yr Your posts are becoming more and more ignorant FF. A-Gon has had flashes after his rookie campaign that show he can hit decently in this league. And despite your intense hate for D Lee how could you ever compare his offense to A-Gon? :plain
May 14, 200422 yr Flashes? Flashes of what? I am tired of people who defend Alex because he shows "flashes of brilliance" or is starting to "realize his potential." Usually these comments come on the heels of one of Alex's multi-hit games, which usually occur once every other month. He has sucked like a Hoover for YEARS. There is no potential to tap into, nor is there any brilliance for him to flash. This is Alex Gonzalez. It will never get any better than what you see right now. If you think his Defense is sooo invaluable that you are willing to give up runs and compromise the entire bottom third of the order, then hey, so be it. But I think it's too high a price to pay, especially since the team has problems scoring runs as it is anyway. And there is a reason why they call it a batting AVERAGE. So the excuses like "wow, he got robbed the other night" or "he's hitting the ball really well and is just unlucky" are crap excuses. I have never, ever seen any everyday position player with at-bats as bad as his. So we agree to disagree, I guess. I just hope he saves a ton of runs at SS, because he costs a ton of runs at the plate.
May 14, 200422 yr Yeah he is getting better. I hope he can continue this trend, he should get better. I expect him to bat around .250, or .260 by the end of the year. He has been playing the best defense on the team IMO. He still needs to learn how to not be so indecisive and not swing at almost everything pitched his way. But still props to A-gon!

He is one guy I beleive you need 3 people to make up a third of the line-up. He bat's before the pitcher spot so it's unfair to blame the futility at the bottom of the line-up on him alone. Not to mention he has not gotten help from Castro. I am not saying that it is NOT his fault but don't lay it all on him. Right now he is not even the worst bat in our "Starting" line-up, that title belings to Castro. you seem to hate alex enough to blame him for Castro and the Pitcher's shortcommings at the plate. :thumbdown

May 14, 200422 yr Yeah. I think he's finally back on track. Remember, .240 is still great for a guy like a him. I dont know which is sadder; that we`re so happy hes hitting a "desent" ave. or that he was below 205.
May 14, 200422 yr And don't yap on about his stellar defense. What?! If it wern`t for A-Gon`s amazing double play in last nights game, who knows haow many more runs they could have scored. Bottom line, defense wins games.

I dont know which is sadder; that we`re so happy hes hitting a "desent" ave. or that he was below 205. sadder=below .205 hes not a great hitter but he has great defense and his defense makes up for how he does at the plate and so he is going to hit somewhere aroung .250 most prob. the reason why we are happy that he is hitting decent is bc. he isnt suppose to be a great hitter but he is suppose to have great defense...and he has been saving runs with his defense. so if he does a great job on D and an "ok" job on O than he is doing fine.
