June 1, 200422 yr this was done before ahem by me but it shouldnt be USA against the world ... it would be country against country as Venezuela, Domenican Replubic, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Cuba can all field very competitive teams. And if Esteban Loaza makes the "world" team as the starting pitcher we have some serious problems.
June 1, 200422 yr Author A-Rod was born in America, thus an American Citizen. I am doing a USA vs. The World squad because they were talking on BBTN about doing that for the All-Star game. As for Loaiza...I couldn't think of any other starters at 12:30 last night so I put him. Where are your guys pics?
June 1, 200422 yr Author isn't Manny a US Citizen now? He could play on either team I guess Good point. I dont know where he would play. The World's outfield is stacked so we would gladly take him...
June 1, 200422 yr I've been having this debate with some of my friends for a while, here's the team I'd send out for Latin America (25 players): C- Pudge (Puerto Rico), Posada (Puerto Rico) 1B- Palmeiro (Cuba), Delgado (Puerto Rico), Pujols (DR) 2B- Castillo (DR), Soriano (DR) SS- Tejada (DR), Renteria (Colombia) 3B- Lowell (Cuba/Puerto Rico) OF- Beltran (Puerto Rico), Sosa (DR), Vlad (DR), Manny Ramirez (DR), Magglio Ordo?ez (Venezuela) SP- Javi Vazquez (Puerto Rico), Pedro Martinez (DR), Odalis Perez (DR), Carlos Zambrano (Venezuela), Bartolo Colon (DR) RP- Guillermo Mota (DR), Fransisco Rodriguez (Venezuela) Armando Benitez (DR), Octavio Dotel (DR), Mariano Rivera (Panama) SIDE NOTE: If you did a country wide thing, neither Mikey nor Palmeiro, nor any other major leaguers, would play for Cuba. They refuse to support the communist regime.
June 1, 200422 yr Author Since you are going farther...let me add Kerry Wood and Randy Johnson to my rotation and add Billy Wagner, Latroy Hawkins, and Eddie Guardado.
June 1, 200422 yr My Game 1 starters would be (for let's say a seven game series) 2B- Luis Castillo CF- Carlos Beltran RF- Vlad Guerrero LF- Manny Ramirez 1B- Albert Pujols 3B- Mike Lowell C- Pudge Rodriguez SS- Edgar Renteria P- Pedro Martinez

June 1, 200422 yr Author dude the world would so kick our ass Not really, our pitching would be much better IMO.
June 1, 200422 yr I thought it would be a world cup where there would be like 8 different countries in it in tournament format.
June 1, 200422 yr Author I thought it would be a world cup where there would be like 8 different countries in it in tournament format. This is a possible All-Star game situation that was brought up on BBTN. Sortof like what Hockey has.

June 1, 200422 yr Author I dont know...if they want to make it a really intense matchup they should do it this way. It might make the players more interested in playing in it too.
June 1, 200422 yr A World vs American game will kick so much ass. I vote for Felipe Alou to be the World Team skipper :thumbup
June 1, 200422 yr btw, Gagne should be on the World Team. He is Canadian I believe. I think that the World team would smoke the US team. But that's just me.
June 1, 200422 yr Author It would be a stiff test but as far as the Starters and Pen go...the U.S has the advantage. The World's outfield would be absolutley mind boggling. But the U.S isn't putting slouches up there.
