June 8, 200422 yr what im sayin is that our 3rd or 4th stringers could beat the worlds best cuz these are NBA players better than better......... who gives f*** what PR or anyboyd puts out there they aint got nothing on us....... hey kid... :censored ...watch your mouth when you talk about Puerto Rico. We're never going to beat an NBA team, and I personally root for the U.S. when they play us, but don't talk s***. Puerto Rico did beat Yugoslavia, Spain and Germany at the world tourney, and if it weren't for our bulls*** game against the worst team in the semifinals, New Zealand, we would've qualified top 4, and that's quite an achievement for such a little island. All this talk about the players not wanting to go and justifying it by saying that a championship is more important than a gold medal is bulls***. Michael Jordan understood that, Admin Bird understood that, Ewing, Robinson...the real Dream Team. They don't go to the Olympics now a days because they're a bunch of spoiled bitches who only play for money. I'd send WAde to play at Athens, and if he gets injured, so be it. I'm a Heat fan at heart, but there's more important things in life, and fighting for your country is high in my list. Gotta have hope, man! WE CAN DO IT THIS YEAR!
June 8, 200422 yr what im sayin is that our 3rd or 4th stringers could beat the worlds best cuz these are NBA players better than better......... who gives f*** what PR or anyboyd puts out there they aint got nothing on us....... Yeah, guess what? The American Dream Team (this is the one with all the stars, yeah that one) LOST TO PUERTO RICO IN A BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. LOST. L-O-S-T. DE-FEA-TED. The Dream Team itself is not invincible, how do you expect the "third and fourth stringgers" to be? im not worried....... and eys i remember KG sayin he was afraid that s***....... if it was all fun and games mosts them would be out there....... but this s*** is going on everywhere ....... nobody expected spain to get bombed like they did ....... do you really think these NBA playaz trust Greece's securty f*** that....... they lookin out 4 themselves......... Another uneducated comment......because, like I said earlier, when you didn't read my post.....THEY ARE GOING TO BE GUARDED BY THE MARINES. Not The Greek Police, or the French Legion, Roman Centaurians, or the Red Army. By the US Marines. At all hours of the day. Security concerns they may have are completely unfounded. and if Boozer go's out there im sure he's better than whom eva 75 % the people the world thows at us in Olypics...... Do you know who the world is sending out there? Peja, Nash, Nowitski.....there's a long list of NBA Super Stars that are playing for their respective countries. It's just that the US is full of pussies with no national pride that puts resting on more important terms than defending your country. You don't get the chance to defend it by putting your life on the line with a gun in your hand and a grenade in the other, you better jump at the chance to defend it on such cozy terms as a basketball court when so many people are risking their lives for you to have the right to do so. As far as I'm concerned, every NBA "star" that turns down a chance to play on the US team might as well go and slap every single soldier, pilot, sailor, or veteran in the face. It's the equivalent. who gives f*** what PR or anyboyd puts out there they aint got nothing on us....... Yeah, nothing on us right? SEE: 2000, 2002, what will happen in 2004
June 8, 200422 yr dude, its nothing aganst you cuz ya from PR...... it has more to do with my cockyness about NBA players...... i see you have passion for ya country and thats all good....... as 4 the 02 joke.... those players tanked it did not give it there best... adn they will neav or should be aloowe d to play again...... not to mention they were badly coached!!!!!! i feel that we should put pur younger players who wanan play such as wade, melo booz, and james...... kids who win a gold medal...... who would prob have more passion than say a Karl malone or a Shaq....... as 4 my opnions on the NBA vs the World...... no doubt the would is catching up...... but weather ya from PR, Brazil or Germany or even Peja and Divac country..... only 1 or 2 players are good enough to be playin on an NBA team....... June 8, 200422 yr Wade confirms selection to U.S. Olympics team By Ira Winderman Staff Writer Posted June 8 2004 LOS ANGELES -- Dwyane Wade is still waiting to exhale. For now, the Heat guard continues to breathe in an intoxicating start to his NBA career. Less than three weeks after completing an unlikely ride to the Eastern Conference semifinals, Wade on Monday confirmed that he has been selected for the team of NBA players that will represent the United States at summer's Athens Olympics. "It's been a whirlwind for me," he said of a remarkable year that began last June with his low-profile selection in the draft behind more-heralded newcomers LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Now Wade is going to Greece, as a teammate to James, selected ahead of Anthony. "To represent your country as an Olympian, especially being so young, is exciting," said the 22-year-old, taken with the fifth pick last June. The selection of Wade was part of the latest scramble by USA Basketball to rebuild a program that has lost much of its luster from its initial Dream Team roots. Wade's spot became available with Sacramento guard Mike Bibby becoming the latest to step aside. Among those who have bypassed invitations have been Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Tracy McGrady, Jason Kidd, Ray Allen, Jermaine O'Neal, Vince Carter and Karl Malone. While some have expressed concerns about security, others cite the toll already exacted by the six-month NBA season and ensuing playoffs. Wade, who still must fill out the required paperwork to make his selection official, said he was not fearful of security but also said he was not fully aware of the grueling schedule that requires players to report to pre-Olympic camp July 26 in Jacksonville and remain with the team on a five-country tour that does not end until Aug. 28 in Athens. NBA camps open a month later. The last time the Heat was represented in the Olympics, center Alonzo Mourning returned from the 2000 Sidney Games with a kidney illness that eventually ended his career with the team, and point guard Tim Hardaway was sidelined by the end of that season with a foot injury. "I love playing basketball," Wade said. "To have the opportunity is a great honor. I hope once I talk to the Heat that they're not concerned." Wade joins an Olympic roster team that has firm commitments from Spurs center Tim Duncan, 76ers guard Allen Iverson, Nets forward Richard Jefferson, Knicks guard Stephon Marbury, Pistons center Ben Wallace, Suns forwards Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudemire and the Cavaliers' James. Cavaliers power forward Carlos Boozer also has been invited, with an invitation possibly forthcoming for Anthony. Heat forward Lamar Odom also is receiving consideration. Admin Brown, the Olympic coach who is at the NBA Finals guiding the Detroit Pistons, said he welcomes the youthful outlook provided by Wade. "The more young kids with enthusiasm that are going to be our future, in my mind, the better off we can be," he said. "Guys like Wade and Carmelo and LeBron and Stoudemire, you name them, all of these young kids coming into the league, and some of the second- and third-year guys, if they want to play, that's great." Now that we're talking about the dream team, I'd like to bring another issue up: I've seen them play twice already in the Olympic qualifiers in San Juan, and they kill! My point is, there's people who dislike the US's game style because they say all the alley oops, no look passes and in-your-face dunks only show the arrogance of the Americans. Personally, I like to see my team beat the s*** out of everyone else and clean the court with the other team, but that's just me. The way we play entertains the fans, and that's the bottom line. thoughts??
