Urbina

Featured Replies

Well I was bored and saw that Urbina could be traded according to ESPN insider. I mean it would be ridiculous to get him two years in a row, but if he came back he would be the perfect set up man and that 8th inning guy that the Marlins need. What do you guys think? I mean there really are not very top of the line relievers that would be on the market. If it weren't that expensive(prospects) I think I would do it in a heartbeat.

That would be a shame to give up prospects for him, since we didn't even try to sign him in the off-season.

we didn't try to sign him because when we were shopping for closers, he was looking for a multi-year, $4-$5 million dollar per year deal. if i'm not mistaken, he ended up signing a one-year, $3.5 million dollar deal with the Tigers (with a 2nd year for $4 million that can be bought out for $500K).

we should definitely try to get Urbina. Urbina was the key to our run last year, and he would do wonders for our team this year as well.

It's just too bad we would have to give up prospects, again. Also, I am unsure how Urbina would feel about it since the Marlins FO showed no interest after last season.

he'd be lucky we're even considering him, after he tried to hand over game 4 to the Giants, game 1 to the Cubs, and game 4 to the Yankees.

:D :cool

Urbina would be a sick set up man. With him and Mando...we would have the best pen in the NL. Yes, in the NL.

I feel the Tigers signed these vets in order to ship them off seperately for parts. It is smart too, because to develop talent takes time and picks. To sign a FA and then trade him for talent takes much less time. The Tigers need to increase their talent pool so I think they will begin selling off parts soon - probably after the ASB. That means Fudge could be moved too. Stay tuned.

Dude, are you smoking?? there's no way that Pudge is going to get traded. That would definitely be the most stupid sign and trade in sports history. You don't do that! If the Tigers even consider doing this, huge fan riots would erupt in MoTown, and they'd probably move to nearby cities destroying everything in their path.

You probably could have said the same thing a year ago...in fact, it was said by the media. They questioned why did the Marlins make this signing when they were not going to be able to re-sign him. And the fans were complaining and hoping that Fudge would return - but he didnt. The Tigers would be fine. They have been losing for so long the few fans they have are very loyal and are starting to come back because they are WINNING not because of Fudge. If the right deal came along, I dont see how Trader Dave wouldnt pull the trigger. Unlikely, but not impossible.

I have to disagree with all the urbina talk...... do you really think we are the only ones who want some pen help..... what do you think the indians and the reds are looking 4??????

wha eva we give im sure the tribe or reds will give more..... thats why at this point time i have no faith in us getting uggey back........

Urbina would be a sick set up man.? With him and Mando...we would have the best pen in the NL.? Yes, in the NL.?

Just a silly thought..... :p

Urbina hasn't contributed much, so he could be expendable.

Fudge has a 4 year deal that we wouldn't be willing to take on.

Urbina's salary is in range....so I could see that working out.

I don't think the Tigers will give him up and I'm not willing to pay so much for him. I mean he left us because we didnt have enough money for him, so he better now say he wants even more now. I'll only take him if we can get him cheap. Money is an issue a lot of times with the Marlins..

Urbina is contributing, he's a whole lot better than Matt Anderson or Chris Mears, but I do think he should be brought up in trade talks.

Pudge SHOULD NOT be moved. The Tigers organization has put way too much into him, and he has 4 years left on his contract. Ticket sales soared the day after he was signed, because he pretty much gave the Tigers instant credibility.

And what is this about few loyal fans??? The Tigers had a better attendance than the Marlins last year with a 119 loss season. Thick and thin is the way the Tigers fans go about things.

Just a silly thought..... :p Sure, they are helping the Tigers 'win'. So is Rondell White, so is Carlos Guillen and a myriad of other improved Tigers players.

Let me ask you this, who is better off right now - the D'Backs or the Brewers? Remember, the Brewers traded Sexson for a bunch of players - Overbay, Counsell, Spivey among others. They are a better team this year than they would be with just Sexson. It is about balance. If you dont think the Tigers would consider doing the same thing, then you dont understand Dombrowski.

If the right deal comes along and the Tigers are out of it, I dont see how they could realistically keep Urbina or even Fudge on their roster. They are short term solutions. The Tigers need pitching and they need younger pitchers to help them for the future. Fudge has got 2 maybe 3 productive years left.

Not saying it WILL happen, but that it wouldnt surprise me if it did.
