June 15, 200422 yr It seems that right now, the hot topic around here is the Fish trying to acquire Beltran and what we will need to give up to get him. So based on previous reports I think that we should send Stokes, Oliver, and maybe Castro if they want him to KC for Beltran. I know Stokes is considered one of our top prospects but after reading that article on him a few days ago about how he struggles fielding and throwing, everyone agreed that he would fit better as a DH so in KC he can do that. I would like to see him try and develop into something for the Fish but if the FO feels that he is nothing more than a DH then we will lose him soon anyway therefore we might as well get something out of it.
June 15, 200422 yr Why dont we trade a sixpack of soda for Beltran. With your thinking, the GM of the Royals would take that!!!!

June 15, 200422 yr KC wants a C and 3B who can play in 2005. Stokes injured his left wrist again. The same wrist that threw him into a slump all last year. I say we send Castro or Willingham, Nunez and a pitching prospect to Seattle for Raul Ibanez. We don't need an impact bat, just a guy to replace Cordero and take at bats away from Niner and Nunez.
June 15, 200422 yr Author Isnt Stokes considered to be a top prospect? The Royals arent looking for something to make a playoff run they said that they are just looking for some cheap prospects, they are officaly in rebuilding mode and Stokes can help that.

Whats with all of you retards? Im sick of people posting these ludacris trades. What makes you think KC wants to pick up all of our trash players for one of the best OFers in the game? Oliver? Who wants Oliver?
June 15, 200422 yr Whats with all of you retards? if i had a timeout stick, i'd hit you with it. theres no need to be a jerk.

June 16, 200422 yr and others have the right to speak their mind without having to worry about people being bastards towards them.
June 16, 200422 yr Author I just threw Oliver and Castro in as extra names the point I was trying to get across is that we use Stokes as trade bait and then add on whatever else. Also who knows KC may want DO as a reliver he has been very consistent coming out of the pen.
June 16, 200422 yr Like I said in another post yesterday. It will take at least 3 of our top 7 or 8 prospects to get a deal for Beltran done.
June 16, 200422 yr Like I said in another post yesterday. It will take at least 3 of our top 7 or 8 prospects to get a deal for Beltran done. Not necessarily. Big market teams, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, dont have the talent we have to trade away. The only thing they have is money - and that doesnt interest KC. I dont think there is anything to this deal yet - but it is early.

I dont think there is anything to this deal yet - but it is early. The Mets system is not depleted like the Red Sox and Yankees. There are also teams like the Cubs and Dodgers who could potentially make a run at Beltran, and they have better farm systems than us.

Also who knows KC may want DO as a reliver he has been very consistent coming out of the pen. Considering the way he played this year, promising that Castro will not play for them could be better trade bait. :lol
June 16, 200422 yr I say we send Castro or Willingham, Nunez and a pitching prospect to Seattle for Raul Ibanez WHAT?????? Thats all I have to say.
June 16, 200422 yr Ibanez is horrible the only reason why the marlins traded gonzalez last year is because of stokes and how good he is Does anbody remember when scott rolen was traded? the best third baseman in the game how much did philly get. What most of you need to understand is that Beltran is a rent-a-player he will only be used for a run at the series the Marlins have better prospects than both the Yankees and Boston but right now the Yankees are in dire need of pitching and Boston doesnt need any offensive help they need pitching help also. Yes it's Carlos Beltran but what ever team gets him wont have to break the bank either. Anyways a prospect is just what theword is a prospect not a major league and possibly never will be. So loosing prospects isnt real atht big of a deal.
June 16, 200422 yr also they want willingham to be the futurecatcher of the marlins A guy like reggie sanders would be better to trade for than ibanez
June 16, 200422 yr The Marlins should wait when its close to the deadline if they want to trade for beltran (if he isnt dealt by then). It will take less to trade for beltran, because the royals will want to atleast get something for beltran.
June 16, 200422 yr I say we send Castro or Willingham, Nunez and a pitching prospect to Seattle for Raul Ibanez WHAT?????? Thats all I have to say. First get over your obsession with Nunez. He sucks and a 27yo rookie who Ks or GIDPs he's up has little trade value. So does Castro and Willingham. They are too old to be considered top prospects, but the Mariners would bite because they lack catching prospects. OK, so maybe Ibanez isn't great. But 'd much rather save the farm system and the payroll on a cheaper role player. There are any number of cheap lefthanded hitting outfielders we could find to platoon with Conine. Ibanez is just the only one playing for a non-contender at a moment.
