No one but the Royals think they are out of it and the Fish are not interested in going after Beltran

it's all smoke no fire from Berardino(as usual)

so it looks like getting some proven relievers is not gonna be easy because no one wants to trade right now

As I've said before, if we can't resign Pavano then I'd move him. Today's Herald says its a possability that we're exploring (dealing from our strength of starting pitching). Otherwise like MrA says, its going to be really tough to get anything done. If we moved Pavano we could get a bat and a reliever back, maybe even a decent 5 starter. If not let Wayne or Tejera have a crack at it.

Dealing your best pitcher is not a smart thing to do.

I'll be pissed if they deal Pavano for a couple of rental players. You only deal Pavano when you are out of the race and for top young talent

All these great starting pitchers are worthless if you can't get leads and hold them. If we're not going to resign Pavano he's our most attractive trade bait.

I don't see anyway that we can keep this rotation together next year so people need to be prepared to lose Pavano one way or another. I don't want to deal him for a rental, I want a guy who's going to be around a 2-3 years.

The only way we're going to make a meaningful move without finishing off our farm system is moving Pavano. You can wreck the next 3-4 years by clearing out the farm system for a guy who's going to be gone at the end of the year anyway, or you can do the smart thing and move him in a way that makes the team better now and in the future.
