Chipper Jones

Featured Replies

Why does Chipper use a black bat when he bats right handed and a natural wood grain bat when he bats left handed?

Superstitious?

Well, a grounder hit him in the face yesterday.

yea saw that,he blamed it on the lights....but he did make a very nice play later in the game to turn a DP..

They didn't turn the DP he made a nice play on, it was beat out :p

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to the question though, it is an interesting one

My uneducated guess would be bat weight. Probably needs more bat speed (and a ligter club) from one side of the plate. Hence the different bat, probably different wood and different paint.

its probably a superstitious thing.

give chipper time to get back into the groove at third.

he will be fine there.

yep

Back to around 20 errors a season but he might have a little bit less this season since he has missed a lot of action and started in RF.

So i say 19.

its probably a superstitious thing.

So i say 19. LF.

and last full season at third he had 12 errors.

chipper isnt a great fielding third baseman by a long shot.

but he is servicable and provides a nice stick.....which i would assume will come around eventually...he has had some injuries all year long.

Probably a superstition thing, but i think its so when he goes and bats, he knows right off the bat, which bat he needs to take out.
