Come on, Atta was a known terrorist and was suspected before hand. He was even stopped and detained in an airport when he entered the country because of his visa.

Enlighten me as to why the Clinton administration let him in then. Inquiring minds want to know...

Tell me why every administration has illegal immigrants and visas. You can't single out Clinton and if you look, Atta was on the confirmed terrorist activities watchlist of the FBI.

Unfortunately, Clinton had 8 years to work on any immigration or visa problems. If that isn't enough time to "fix" something, how can you possibly believe 6 months is?

To a casual outside observer it would seem like a hypocritical double standard.

You're still avoiding the question. If Atta was as you say on a "confirmed terrorist activities watchlist of the FBI" - why the heck did the Clinton administration let him in?

George Bush Sr. had time to fix it too.

The administration doesn't let people in. They have to catch the people who do so illegally, and Clinton is partly to blame for the false sense of security that was slowly being unraveled by attacks on the embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and the USS Cole.

Maybe it wasn't broken then? You're not old enough to remember the massive restructuring of immigration enforcement that came during the Clinton administration.

IAC, Bush Sr. didn't let the 9/11 terrorists in - Clinton did. Why?

Bush Sr. let the 92 terrorists in. So you lose that point. I may not be old enough to remember, but I know that Bush Jr. had a chance to boot the terrorists. So did Clinton but that point is so bad its not funny.

Okay, let's be honest with ourselves.

1. The government knew 100% nothing about an oncoming attack, as claimed by Dick Cheney on the February 2002 edition of Meet the Press

2. Government did know, but did not share information properly and none of this was brought to the president or key members' of the administration's attention.

3. Key members of the administration did know, but the evidence was rather incomplete and because any conclusion one can draw would be a totally unprecedented attack, it was not taken as seriously as it should have been.

4. Government and the adminstration knew an attack was definately coming and willingly allowed the attacks to occur.

The truth is between 2 and 3.

fair enough on both accounts, it is more towards the 3 side.

Actually clinton was offered bin laden by the sudanese 'government'. The truth is blaming one admin. for 9/11 is absurd and stupid, this was coming from long ways back, because terrorism on our soil has not been an immediate priority of any of our past admins. Any of our past presidents and intelligence officials could have done somehting earlier to change the course of istory, but they did not and unfortunately it took an event like 9/11 to finally push the country's focus into fighting terrorism.
