We need a starter...who should we get?

Featured Replies

OK, latest is Beckett will return to the DL. I think this may force Beinfest to make a move. Which starter would you like us to get? Realistically...who is out there?

LI-VAN.....LI-VAN....Get the big Cubanian back to South Florida!!!!

Bring up Wayne and put him in Bump's slot in the pen and slide Bump into the rotation. Let's give that a try.

Bump was stellar as a starter with the Topes and Wayne has been doing a great job down there. (4.1 IP, 1 ER, 6 K yesterday)

I'm sorry Admin.....I dont want Bump or Wayne....Their not the answer. We need to go to the big Cubanian.....Mediocrity is no longer an option.

Nate Bump or Darren Oliver

got no other choices

he went back to boston like 2 weeks ago

It's pretty obvious to me that Beinfest is not going to make any moves. Unless this team somehow puts together some kind of winning streak.

Shrugs. I would like a trade for someone to give us options this year and next year if Pavano does not resign.

Beinfest doesn't like being in a corner, but Beckett just cannot stay off the DL and now is the time to start looking for the pitcher to replace him. I doubt our organization could provide him right now.

I like Livan and his long term deal, but what about Ted Lilly? He can start and be in the pen, he's a quiet all star, and he has experience in big situations.

Ted Lilly: Pitching & Defense

Lilly relies a lot on control, but he gained enough command by the end of last season to log a very good 147 whiffs. He throws a fastball that just kisses 90 MPH, along with a good curve and very good change. Despite being a southpaw, Lilly is victimized frequently by baserunners because of a slow move to the plate. He throws a lot more flyouts than groundouts, but fields his spot well when grounders come his way.

This team has to prove to Beinfest it's good enough if he's going to go out and get another player for the playoff run. I think it's a smart move, because you don't want to give up our best prospects just to miss the playoffs. Right now, this is a below average team.

Last year he fired Torborg when the team was underperforming, what can he do to give a spark right now?

Beinfest wouldnt get rid of beckett...he's the future clemens!!

nobody said that. we need someone to replace him because he is injured and then go in the bullpen.

Assuming(not saying we will) we get livan, we will have 6 starters next year. Just assuming, who do you cut loose/trade before the begining of the season? Tough choice indeed.

The way Ted Lilly's been pitching this year, that would require a lot of talent in return...
