I was wondering when he becomes FA eligible. Now that we have Grants contract off the books and being that we only have Shaq signed for two years (I think)

Is it possible that the Heat could be positioning themselves for a run at Yao when he hits free agency????

Could be an interesting thought. Yao, Wade and Dorrell Wright??????

2 more seasons to become a restricted FA. i seriously doubt the rockets wouldnt sign him to an extension though. they'd be idiots if they didnt.

well asuming all goes well ofcourse. but i dont see houston giving him up. they will defenitely match any offer if it gets to the point where hes being offered

well under the current situation being that Riley said that signing Shaq to an extension wasnt a priority it makes me think that this could be a money clearing move for something bigger.

Bringing in Shaq for only two years makes the Heat a MAJOR player in the FA market in only two years. And since Yao is going to be the next major FA prize its going to be interesting to see if the Heat go in that direction.

Regardless, to me trading a guy like Odom was a necessity to make Wade a better player. Odom requires a lot of touches to make things happen and that only takes away from Wade.

Even with Shaq, Wade is the centerpiece of our franchise and this trade only makes him better. Both by having Shaq in the middle to take defenses away from doubling and by giving him the opportunity to have more touches

and for me, anything that puts the ball in Dwayne Wade's hands more is a good thing

well i dont think the heat could take that risk because he is a RESTRICTED free agebt so any offer made to him will almost certainly be matched in a heartbeat by the rockets. so i think its not even a remote possibility to think about.

nice post though

this has to be the stupidest idea ive ever read.you inferring that yao is the bigger thing the heat are planning for is just stupid. who cares about yao??? we have shaq now.and even then id rather waste my money on something better

NO. even 2 years from now shaq might still be here and yao shouldnt even be on the heats list. hes not a big name in my opinion. there are way better players id rather aquire with that money than him

houston will sign yao long term next year to a max contract.

The point of trading for Shaq was signing him to an extension

There is no way Yao will play anywhere but Houston!
