July 28, 200422 yr The Phillies are trying to get Carlos Beltran according to Baseball Tonight. If the Phils get him then they will be favorites to win the division. The Astros are undecided if they want to trade Beltran before the deadline. If they decide to trade him, then we should do everything possible to get him even if it means trading Stokes and Murphy. Carlos Beltran is 10x better than Finley and Walker and with a healthy Beckett again, it would make us favorites.
July 28, 200422 yr I'll trade for him if the management lets us resign him after this season. Otherwise, I'm not sure giving up our two best prospects is a good idea.
July 28, 200422 yr Beltran is not necessarily a good idea for the phillies, IMO the phillies need to work on improving their starting pitching, because they have a good hitting lineup as is, and with wagner healthy they have a good pen too.
July 28, 200422 yr Astros are in the wild-card race.. I just don't see them unloading Beltran. BTW, the fact that it was reported makes it all the less likely to happen in my opinion.
