August 3, 200422 yr "These kids that we get nowadays, they come in and do this wrong. You shouldn't steal. You shouldn't do this. Their parents have got to teach them that. And it's got to be done when they're 2, 3, 4, 5 years of age. And kids aren't getting that anymore because the daddies ain't home. The daddies are all gone. And a boy needs discipline. He needs discipline from a male. Not a mama. They all want to wear earrings like their mama. They all want to look like their mama. Because their mama is raising them." Bobby Bowden Hilarious, this is what he said when asked if kids nowadays are different than 30 years ago...What do you all think, Has he fallen off the rocker, or is old man Bowden just saying like it is...Personally I think he is saying like it is, and I am NOT a Seminole lover or Bowden lover
August 3, 200422 yr Hell yah the cover up a lot crap. I used to be a HUGE Bowden hater...still am, and I still think the program is dirty... but I also think that Bowden really does try. Just because a player doesn't get suspended, doesn't mean he isn't being punished. I admire how he does actually take the time to get players personally. It may sound like a given in college football...but there are probably about 120 players on his team...and he probably knows each and everyone of them (might not remember their names from time to time...but he's scenile! lol). I do think that Spurrier ran a MUCH cleaner program. And I am trying to be as unbiased as possible when saying this. He had a VERY clean program. The biggest blemish was the Tank Black scandal with Kearse, etc. And Spurrier and Jeremy Foley (AD) had nothing to do with it. In fact, as soon as they found out, they reported it to the NCAA and began an investigation of their own ALONG with facilitating an NCAA investigation.
August 3, 200422 yr i swear the program covers up so much crap, its not even funny. 491666 What program doesn't cover up a lot of stuff? I guess the 15 player arrests that have occurred under Tressel are no big deal because Ohio State is a pure and virtuous school. Anyway, I won't claim that Bowden is a saint, but all programs have their shady business going on. Questionable characters with huge talent that bring millions of dollars to a school are worth it in the mind of an AD or President. Anyway, what Bowden says is probably a mix of him falling off his rocker and speaking truth. The black community and society as a whole has fallen because of the dissolution of the family.
August 3, 200422 yr There are some SERIOUS shady doings going on in Tallyho. haha, there used to be a site (dunno if it still works) www.cracksmoker.com. They defined a "cracksmoker" as any athlete who got in trouble with the law, or did something jackass-ish...like miss class, being an a$$hole in an interview, etc....mostly just stuff that causes or SHOULD cause a suspension. Anyway, they had NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL sections. Then they had 2 separate sections: Florida State football, and Fresno State basketball. It says something about what's going on there.

Anyway the main point I was trying to make is that if half the stuff was found out about what happens at fla state..... it would make the reasons for the death penalty that SMU recieved look mild. at least from what i have heard goes on there. there's shady and then there is shady at some big schools..... miami being another...espeically in the late 80s/early 90s...when they should of probably recieved the death penalty
August 4, 200422 yr 1) Das is bitter, being an SMU alum 2) he's right on 492345 1) isnt an alum (yet) 2) hates that the NCAA determined that it was too severe of a punishment to destroy the SMU football program, yet has done a)nothing about what they did to SMU b) lets other programs do even worse things than SMU and get away with it. 3) just absolutely hates Bobby Bowden for stupid reasons.
August 4, 200422 yr That Fresno State Basketball team from the 90's was pretty bad. I remember they had some sort of reality show about that team on Fox Sports.
