August 4, 200422 yr I agree with those fans that have already said it; enough of the whining threads over and over. Right now this team looks lost, we all agree. But the same people that moan and groan will be leading the way to the playoffs if the Marlins defeat Randy Johnson Wednesday night. Everyone needs to pull themselves back to 2002. What we wanted as fans was a competitive team. What we wanted was fun players to watch. What we wanted was a reason to watch our team each night. We all understood in 2002 that only 4 teams in the NL go to the playoffs and just one team wins the World Series each year. Now here we are in 2004 and we only want a winning team. We only want winning ballplayers each night, each at bat. We don't want to waste our time for just having a reason to watch our team, we only want to watch wins. We win a W.S. in 2003 and so many fans have turned in to greedy, undeserving fans. Maybe some are bandwagon but I doubt that because those guys probably jumped off long ago. I felt heading into this month we needed to go 19-7. I felt a sweep versus AZ was almost required. But we lost this game. We now need to go 19-6 IMO. It's just a game guys. Tomorrow is a new day. Next season is a new season. And with both will come new pitfalls. I am on this ride for at least 57 more games this season and from Opening Day in 2005. If you are unwilling to accept the lows on this ride then you may be better off rooting for the Yankees who rarely hit the lows or maybe the Devil Rays who have never seen the highs. Who am I to critique anyones post? I just wish there was less 'hate' and 'sucks' on the board and more questions like "Why did Seanez make his first appearance in the 8th inning of a tie game with a runner on?" or "Aren't you worried that Mota hasn't pitched since 7/29?" Baseball talk is great when that's what it is. I root for the Marlins and hope for wins. That is a big difference between rooting for wins and hoping it's the Marlins.

August 4, 200422 yr This was a great post, in my opinion... You're definitely right Stag5. We've had such high expectations, that the fact that our team isn't playing as well as last year has become extremely disappointing... But, as you said, there is still a lot of baseball to play... Once Benitez comes back, we'll see a new team. Had he been available, we would have seen Mota in the 8th inning today. But with Mando out, Mota was being saved for a possible save opportunity in the 9th. I'm not one to second guess Jack, but I would have brought either Bump or Koch in the 8th inning. I think we need to start showing some more faith in Billy Koch.
