With Ortiz going against Fossum tomorrow, you can bet the Braves are going to sweep the D'Backs. The Braves play Milwaukee next, and have shown they can beat sub-.500 teams.

 

So we will have to sweep the Brewers, plus take two from the NL leading Cardinals to have any hope of keeping pace.

It's not a matter of being in it or not, sadly....we have to keep winning, yes, but the BRAVES have to start losing!

Honestly, our only hope againt the Braves is that they struggles against the Western Division teams like they usually do. They have a tough road trip coming up.

 

The only problem is that we also have the same road trip and West schedule, and we haven't done that well either.

 

So they need to struggle over the next two weeks, while we have a nice run.

here's how i see it - we have 53 more games left in the season. to have a realistic shot of making the playoffs, we need to win at least 90 games this year - not saying that will definitely do it for us, just saying that's the minimum record we will need to win in order to even have a chance. To put it in perspective, last year 8 teams won 90+ games, and 7 of those teams made the playoffs (Seattle was the only exception). in 2002, 8 of the 11 teams that got over 90 wins made the playoffs. So, it's a good benchmark goal.

 

so for us to get to 90 wins, we gotta go, at the very worst, 35-18 from here on in. if we go 40-13, we'll have 95 wins and only one team in the past 5 seasons has missed the playoffs with that many wins. when you look at it like that, it does not really seem THAT un-doable. we just gotta do it!
