:lol haha, yeah this is a spin off of that other thread. and YES it is Marlins related. i was just thinking back to that Indians line up, man that was a scary bunch. i looked up their stats for that year.

Omar Vizquel 5 HR/.280

Tony Fernandez 11 HR/.286

Manny Ramirez 26 HR/.328

David Justice 33 HR/.329

Jim Thome 40 HR/.286

Matt Williams 32 HR/.263

Sandy Alomar Jr. 21 HR/.324

Brian Giles 17 HR/.268

Marquis Grissom 12 HR/.262

GOOD LORD!

We beat those guys without our 3rd starter (Fernandez) and with our ace losing 2 games?!?!?! wow.

Yanks had better pitching though, and it was sweeter beating them.

so which is it?

I don't think some people appreciate how sick that Indians team was.

Brain Giles was on there bench :plain

That '97 team was absolutely digusting, Indians were one hell of the a team in the mid to late 90s. Amazing they didn't win the series

One hell of a team indeed....I'd say the 97 Indians >>> 03 Yankees

I think Sexson was

Not sure on Casey

indians

they had that sick lineup and had solid pitching, with nagy, ogea, and jaret wright. they came within 2 outs of winning the series (in our park) after being down 3-2, so they were definately tougher than the yanks

They had Hershiser too no?

yanks pitching was shaky last year.

indians

wasnt Sexson and Sean Casey apart of that 97 team too?

Yes they were. Sexson was the starting first baseman until Thome moved to 1st base.

btw,

look at this team regular season pitching ERAs (starting rotation)

Charles Nagy 4.28

Orel Hershiser 4.47

Chad Ogea 4.99

Bartolo Colon 5.65

Jaret Wright 4.38

all offense, weak pitching
