August 13, 200422 yr its confirmed that Michael Owen is the newest Real Madrid galactico. the deal was sealed for 12 million Euro and scrub player Antonio Nunez. many of you might question this move, as i did, but for basically 12 mill, id take him. say all you want, but we now have 4 world class forwards to rotate at any given time. you suckas are gonna go dowwwwwwwn. :hat
August 13, 200422 yr That's. Just. Wrong. Best player in England should be playing in England. Go play for ManU! :hat
August 13, 200422 yr I guess Owen wants to take a year off and hang out in the bench with morientes real madrid = the career killers ohh yeah and the player they needed "Viera" isnt gonna join ... so Real still look the same as last year with the same problems
August 13, 200422 yr Good news for me...maybe Real will decide to let Fiorentina have half of Portillo, or even renew the "loan".
August 13, 200422 yr Author i think this pretty much makes Portillo yours dude. Owen will be here for the next 4 years with an option for a 5th. the kid is 24 years old too. seems like hed be older since hes been around for so long. i say sell Portillo outright to Fiorentina and take that cash as the Owen transfer money. a great deal business-wise.
August 13, 200422 yr I hope you are right. Real was set on giving us Portillo for just one year, they did not want to sell him at all, this changes everything of course!
August 14, 200422 yr Author im sure Portillo will be sold to Fiorentina now. the kid is good, just never had playing time in Madrid. he broke all of Raul's records in the youth ranks, so hes got to be good again at some point. btw, Michael Owen presented today at the Santiago Bernabeu as #11 for the upcoming season. a season of hell for anyone who plays us.
August 15, 200422 yr I don't fully understand Real Madrid. They always showed problems in defence, lost everything last year (and here in Italy became "los ridicolos") and still buy forward players!!! Yes, they got Samuel from Roma but that could be not enough. Maybe they will play with a 2-0-8 scheme... I wish them the best (I still miss my baby Ronie!) but that's even more ridicoulus of what Inter owner, Moratti, did in the past.
August 15, 200422 yr Author the Owen signing might seem ridiculous seeing as that we have 3 world class forwards already. the thing about it was that they got him for next to nothing. they sold the right to Samuel Eto'o to Barsa for 24 million, and got Owen for 12 million. business wise, it is an excellent move. this solidifies the depth at the forward spot, which if anyone remembers was a big problem last year, with Raul's struggles and Ronnie's occasional injury. with the amount of games this team plays, it is a nice luxury to rest Ronaldo one game, and bring in Owen. give Raul the day off and start Morientes. this is not as big of a problem as the defense, but it was a small problem nonetheless. as far as the defense goes, yes i would like to see another CB or DM added to the squad, but as it stands, it is not completely horrible. how much of a better defense does Barcelona, Manchester United, or Arsenal have?? i dont really see a difference. we have one of the best CBs in the world in Samuel, the best LB in Roberto Carlos and a top 3 RB in Salgado.

Last year they had a lot of problems because of David "Spice Boy" and his not wanting to sit on bench. When Ronie came to Milan before season off he said clearly Real lockers is just people talking and complaining. Roberto Carlos wanted to leave but he has high contract and could not. I watch Real games every week and they look like the Harleem Globtrotter more than a team. I hope they win Champions League but I still do not lime their defence: Samuel is good (but has to confirm) but Roberto Carlos is NOT a defender. He is a wonderful left wing, great shoot, good cross but his defence is not even decent. And I am a great fan of him: he arrived to Inter when he was young and showed immidiately attitude for attack. He's like Serginho of Milan. However I am sure Real will make a try to get Cannavaro from Inter as soon as he is out of his injury.
August 15, 200422 yr Vey dumb move. Real Madrid should have push harder to acquire Viera who will be help more of a need area.
August 15, 200422 yr Author the Vieira saga was going nowhere. as much as i would have loved to have him, we cant wait around forever to sign him. the initial offer was 30 million that Arsenal rejected. Madrid then went up to 33.5 million and Arsenal agreed. the next day Arsenal demands 37.5 million. thats when Florentino drew the line and gave up. it would have been a huge signing, but now Vieira must go back to Highbury and hang his head after all he said and did. Madrid are now after Coloccini to fill in the CB role, thus moving Helguera to DM, where he started his career. we all know that these signings they make dont make sense, but well have to see how the pan out. Owen knows damn well that there are 3 others forwards ahead of him. yet he still wanted to come.
August 15, 200422 yr I can real sucks ... bastards and zidane looked better with the black&white shirt :hat
August 16, 200422 yr "some of you care" But not me. 513917[/snapback] Who asked you? Don't post if you don't care.
August 16, 200422 yr Author hey man, youre right about the Cannavaro move. reports say that Madrid will start the bidding at 10 million, but will not exceed what they invested in Owen, 12 million. its gonna be a slow operation, but hopefully it will go through. Cannavaro was always a CB that fascinated me, even though his last couple of years have been subpar. anyway, i would love it. solidify the defense for sure.
August 16, 200422 yr juventus have been after cannavaro for quite some time ... darn real why you always gotta be after my players cannavaro is a good player ... but I still dont understand the point of Owen and I still think that Valencia is the most complete team in spain ... not to be against Real Madrid or nothing, they have talent oozing out of them and the best players you can possibly find ... but Valencia have certainly upgraded their team with what they needed more help. with which was in my opinion their front line ... adding Di Viao, Corradi to the already prolific Mista makes for a nice little trio ... also throw in there Stefano Fiore and you got 3 players from the italian national team to complement last years Champion either way but it should be a so-so season because celta vigo is missing :thumbdown
August 16, 200422 yr I have the feeling Inter doesn't need Cannavaro anymore. Fabio is still great but Moratti made the big mistake to buy him instead of Nesta a couple of years ago. Inter has Cordoba who is similar to Cannavaro while Materazzi should have replaced. Cannavaro did well but last year had a couple of injuries that stopped him for a while. For the defence this summer Inter got Burdisso (the argentinan from Boca Junior) and the veteran Mihajlovic from Lazio, then sold Adani, left Gamarra (paraguay now at the olympics) and still to decide what to do with Fabio. Fabio is a great man and still the captain of the italian national team! He said he wants to stay but i doubt. I don't think Inter will leave him to go to Juventus (still to fresh the 2 bad trade with Milan!!) and so Real could be the only top chance. There are a lot of rumors about a trade C.Zanetti (inter) and Camoranesi (juventus) but I hope that not will happen. I don't like Camoranesi and when helthy Cristiano is one of the top CM of the italian league.
August 16, 200422 yr Author Ivan Ramiro Cordoba is the man i really like in that Inter defense. very, very fast and physical CB. although i would love Cannavaro pairing up with Samuel in the Madrid backline. i can see why they wouldnt sell Cannavaro to Juve, its like Barsa selling Figo to Madrid, youre helping out your rival. hahaha. as far as the Camoranesi-Zanetti swap, i see them as very similar players. i dont think a big difference would be made to either club if the other was to come in.
August 16, 200422 yr Author on a side note here, it seems that Juve are making a hard charge at Sol Campbell. the deal might involve Stephan Appiah moving to Highbury. i think it would be a wise move to help solidify the defense that did them in last year. ive always loved Campbell's style of play, very physical CB and very dangerous in the air, specially off corner kicks. hes been know to score many goals that way.
