Vargas promoted

Featured Replies

The Marlins 2nd round pick Jason Vargas was promoted to Low class A Greensboro yesterday. He made his last start on Monday for Jamestown. He'll probably make a start sometime this weekend. He was really tearing it up in Jamestown and hopefully he'll be able to carry that over to Greensboro. Just something to lookout for. I know nc_marlin lives in Greensboro, and this might give him some reason to care about the lowly Bats. :plain

In other news Taylor Tankersley makes a start tonight in Jamestown, and I think, like Vargas, we'll see him in Greensboro before the season is done.

I won't be able to go to his first start since I have stuff planned like every night this weekend. Hopefully I'll get to see one of his next few starts.

Yeah, there's really no incentive for me to attend Bats games. The stadium is all the way across town...like a 30 minute drive, the team sucks(top prospect according to BA is Jai Miller and he has sucked it up), the stadium sucks and is in its final year(it was built in like 192something), and the concessions suck. Next year should be good though. A brand new stadium downtown with hopefully a better team.

Good to see, maybe I'll make a trip to see one of his starts, but I think the season ends shortly after I get down to that area.

Final home game is August 29th.

Oh, and I just checked and they are away this weekend.

Looks like my only shot is like middle of next week if he gets a start then.

Tankersley had another stellar outing today.

6 scoreless innings giving up 4 hits with no walks and 5 K's.

So when is he starting at AA?

No need to bring him along that quick. Let him take his time working through the system. This is his longest outing I believe as they have been putting him on very low pitch counts.

He's in shortseason A-ball right now. I think he'll get to Low Class A Greensboro by the end of the season, but that's it. It wouldn't surprise me to see him in AA sometime next season though.

Well, he wasn't done and we're now through 8 and Vargas has still only allowed 1 run on 3 hits. Unbelievable. He might go for the complete game.

Vargas is done after 8, but still a great greensboro debut from Vargas. Chris Resop greensboro closer who is having a terrific season coming in to finish it.

Fantastic start for Vargas. What is the score? I'm assuming he is going to get the W?

2-1 Greensboro final. 1-2-3 inning for Resop. Resop is another solid prospect to keep an eye on. He can really bring it.

Vargas' line.

8 IP 1 ER 3 hits 4 K's 0 BBs.

He dominated, other than the one inning where he gave up the run he was perfect.

That was certainly fast. I like how our two lefties have been doing this season, despite not having that many starts.
