he is the best lefty in the pen.. any lefty hitter would be sh*t scared to face him since lefty hitters are used to either facing hard rightys or soft throwing leftys.

Almanza doesn't scare the lefties... They are batting .270 (his overall BAA is .282) with a .375 slugging percentage.

 

Half of his walks were against leftys, and 2 of his 5 HR's were, too.

 

He doesn't shut down lefties.... His splits are almost equal right and left.

 

Yes, he's a decent middle releiver some of the time..... But he's not great, by any stretch of the imagination.

I was kinda surprised at his age too....but he was born in '69 according to the Isotopes web site.
