Posted June 24, 200321 yr Toby Borland- R - Florida Marlins Jun 23 Marlins transferred RHP Toby Borland from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. Borland went on the DL last month after underoing an appendectomy he had his appendectomy May 24th was Xpected to be back July 11th... This is a HUGE BLOW to da team... the man was just like Allen Levrault they both came up and doiminated...... Now its Like Beckett and Spoony return Neal and Olsen go down..... now i understand most u think losing Toby doesnt hurt..... well to make the run we need to make..... we need pitchers like him..... dude had a 1.86 ERA... now the ? is losing this mans ARM we need 1 more ARM...... Bring up Scott Sanders who has a 1.79 ERA in Tripple A send down ethier Almanza or Tejera..... i say Almanza should be sent down Tejera gives us long Innings 3-4 innings if needed..... Time to Make a RUN.... but we do it without Toby Boreland.....
June 24, 200321 yr Author we know olsen and and neal both SUX....... there only here cuz Beckett and and Spoony are hurt...... all im sayin is make this Bul Pen as perfect as can be...... all Good or Great teams have Good or Great Bul pens..... Xcpet DEADSOX but they dont really make playoffs anymore
June 24, 200321 yr unfortunately, Tejera and Almanza would have to go Nunez-style to get sent down. Phelps is going to pen when Beckett is back
June 24, 200321 yr i say trade almanza and tejera, so they do good, and you people can eat yourself for being ignorant, and not knowing what your losing.
June 24, 200321 yr Author i say trade almanza and tejera, so they do good, and you people can eat yourself for being ignorant, and not knowing what your losing. CAN U SAY AS$ KISSER...... damn man..... WHAT R we losing?????? okay ill tell u what we are losing..... Almanza 4-4 with a 4.93 ERA "okay so he is having a bad year i bet he was real good last year or adleast Decient?" 2002---3-2 4.38 ERA only pitched 45 innings " damn couldnt stay Healthy huh?" 2001--- 2-2 4. 83 ERA only picthed 41 innings " damn couldnt stay healthy again huh? 2000--- 4-2 4.89 ERA only pitched 46 innings " damn once again high a$$ ERA and couldlnt stay Healthy again"...... WTF are you defending this LOSER 4??????????????
June 24, 200321 yr you obviously dont get it, all he lacks is control on high speeds, there is no other elfty his price, that an throw as hard, k as many, get off the mound as quick, hold runners as him, he lacks control at high speeds, which can be fixed easily with rosenthal due to you all believe he is a g*d

June 24, 200321 yr Bring up Scott Sanders who has a 1.79 ERA in Tripple A send down ethier Almanza or Tejera..... For one, they're right. Almanza and Tejera ain't goin' nowhere. Second, how old is this Sanders kid? There must be a reason he hasn't gotten the call...
June 24, 200321 yr MARK MY WORDS: IF ALMANZA WAS LIMITED TO MORE LEFTHANDED HITTERS HE WOULD BE ONE OF THE BEST RELIEVERS IN THE LEAGUE. CHRIS HAMMOND WAS LIMITED TO LEFTY HITTERS LAST YEAR THROUGHOUT THE FIRST HALF. LOOK WHAT HE DID. THEN LATER THEY MOVED HIM TO AN INNING TO INNING DUTY. if you say get rid of almanza, you dont know jack sh*t and please leave the heck outta here. BOrland is not a huge blow.. BIG deal we have others in the minors like sanders to take over. borland has onlly pitech 9 innings.. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SAY "HUGE BLOW" you people on this board get so mad when you are wrong and others prove you are wrong. all you worry about is the number of posts you do but you dont back them up with anything

Second, how old is this Sanders kid? There must be a reason he hasn't gotten the call... sanders has been with cubs and indians if i recall correctly.. he aint no kid. maybe in his later 20s .. hes had like 1 good year with the cubs but was a huge bust after that. He might be MLB worthy right now though.. Beinfest is probably thinking hes playing above his head and MLB hitters will bash him.
June 24, 200321 yr i say trade almanza and tejera, so they do good, and you people can eat yourself for being ignorant, and not knowing what your losing. It seems like the common answer offered on the board is to trade an underperforming player. Trade Almanza, trade Tejera, trade H-Worth, trade Lee, etc... The problem is no one will give the Marlins anything for them. Trading is not a blanket answer to all the problems on the roster. MARK MY WORDS: IF ALMANZA WAS LIMITED TO MORE LEFTHANDED HITTERS HE WOULD BE ONE OF THE BEST RELIEVERS IN THE LEAGUE Yeah, and if I was limited to facing blind 80 year old women I would be one of the best in the league, too. What percentage of MLB sticks are lefties? 10 percent, maybe? The fact is, we have to make due with what we have. Face it, it could be alot worse. Just accept that Almanza (and the rest of the pen, for that matter) is feast or famine. Sure, they'll blow up every now and again, but there isn't a damn thing you can do about it.
June 24, 200321 yr If this Sanders kid has had ML experience, and already had a solid year, if he is performing once again, there should be no hold up. The guy should be here if he will help the team. You know who I want for the pen? Will never happen, but why not throw it out there. Mike McDougal of Kansas City... That kid is SICK. In two years he is the best closer in baseball, gaurenteed...
June 24, 200321 yr MacDougal is a monster. I've read that the Royals are shopping players already (Beltran, etc) regardless of the postition in the standings.... Here's my pipedream deal with the power-blue bombers.... A three way to get Beltran to a contender, bring MacDougal down to the Fish. We throw them a starter (Penny?) and throw in an outfielder (Banks, H-worth if they'd take him, Pierre etc) and get a low-level prospect or two. Then we trade Loop for middle relief. Then I win the lottery. Then World Peace Then the Marlins win the pennant Then I wake up

EVERY TEAM, YES EVERY TEAM, EVEN THE CUBS. WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ALMANZA IN THEIR BULLPEN P.S. did i mention youre an idiot?
June 24, 200321 yr Hey JPierre... First off, go buy a dictionary...... I never said that Almanza was horrible, just streaky.... You need to get off Bobby V.'s jock with all that "Almanza is the best lefty out of the pen in the league" crap. He's above average when he's on, and a train wreck when he's off. And right now, he's a train wreck about 60 percent of the time. Or maybe you are impressed with his world-beater stats.... 4-4 with a 4.93 ERA. And he's given up more hits than IP. Sorry, not impressed.
June 24, 200321 yr I love how danny never really fully explains stuff. He just says things like "you just dont get it"...we don't need your arrogant B.S......say what you have to say....if you can't get your point across, that's your own problem....dont think it's everyone else's problem.

Sorry, not impressed. he is the best lefty in the pen.. any lefty hitter would be sh*t scared to face him since lefty hitters are used to either facing hard rightys or soft throwing leftys. EVERY TEAM WOULD LIKE ALMANZA IN THEIR PEN. you have to live and die with almanza. what other lefty do you use? levrault? BTW levrault is playing above his head right now. this guy is going to blow up sooner or later and if almanza is gone then all you got is soft throwing leftys with phelps and levrault.. and that works against the team. you have to have a mixture of different types of pitchers. i bet you were the same guy B*tching about alf and clement last year but are PRAISINT WILLIS THIS YEAR.. go back to the expos board from wher e you came from.

June 24, 200321 yr I believe Scott Sanders (who is 34) lasted a few years as a starter for the Padres. How hard is it for someone who has been a starter his entire career to move to the bullpen? Put me in the category that believes losing Borland was not a "huge" blow. I believe he had more BB's than K's, and I don't think he had pitched many innings to that point.
June 24, 200321 yr As far as the lefty pitcher discussion goes, I think a lot of teams would like Almanza in their 'pen, even though he doesn't have sparkling numbers. There's a reason Jesse Orosco is still in the league at, what, 46?

June 24, 200321 yr because no matter what you morons dont get it. you need to "crawl up the butt from whence you came" triumph, the insult comic dog Or we just dont agree with you, and Almanza's buttbuddy (danny). But its ok, I should just take his words for truth...I mean he has those reporter connections where he gets all these inside sources from Loria, McKeon, etc. HAHA! Performing sexual favors for Almanza doesnt count! I guess could say something really witty here....like: That post was really good JPierre......for me to poop on.
