September 6, 200422 yr But the airport in TB was closed until 10 am today. And looking now, the weather seems pretty s***ty. If the Rays don't make it in time for the 3pm double header, the Yankees are credited with two 9-0 wins. With the Yanks playing like crap, and the Red Sox hot on their tales, Hurricane Frances can really screw the Sox over. Hope the Rays get their in time, even though the Yankees could sweep them anyways.
September 6, 200422 yr As of 11:40 AM the Rays are still at Tropicana. Why didn't we do this to the Cubs on Friday?

Its been reported that if D-Rays dont make it to Yankees staduim before game time (3:05 PM) they lose both games 9-0.
September 6, 200422 yr The game has been delayed once, it will be delayed again. That is what I have heard.
September 6, 200422 yr Status of doubleheader in doubt By Mark Feinsand / MLB.com NEW YORK -- The status of Monday's doubleheader between the Yankees and Devil Rays remained in question as of 12:30 p.m., as the Devil Rays had not yet left the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. As a result, the doubleheader, scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., will not begin on time. The Devil Rays' departure has been delayed by complications caused by Hurricane Frances. According to a release distributed by the Yankees, the status of Monday's games will be made by approximately 2:00 p.m., pending the departure of the Devil Rays. All fans holding tickets to Monday's scheduled doubleheader may exchange them for any remaining Yankees home game at Yankee Stadium (subject to availability) even if a game is played on Monday.
September 6, 200422 yr Well just heard they just got a bus. And if they dont make it in time, they will lose 9-0 by forfeit because the Yankees called them Friday tell them to leave and go to NY since Friday to avoid this.
September 6, 200422 yr The umpires call forfeits, not the other team. In order for a forfeit to be called, it must be approved by the league office.

September 6, 200422 yr Associated Press NEW YORK -- The start of Monday's doubleheader between the New York Yankees and Devil Rays was delayed because Tampa Bay had trouble leaving Florida due to Hurricane Frances. The Devil Rays, whose Saturday and Sunday home games against Detroit were postponed by the hurricane, reported to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg at 8 a.m. They departed by bus for Tampa International Airport at 1:05 p.m., said Devil Rays spokesman Rick Vaughn, who was traveling with the team. It was not clear when the Devil Rays would be able to take off and fly to New York for the doubleheader, scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Sandy Alderson, executive vice president of baseball operations in the commissioner's office, said commissioner Bud Selig was reviewing the situation with other baseball officials and no decision had been made on how to proceed. "It's an unfortunate set of circumstances," he said. Alderson did not know if the problem had to deal with chartering a plane, finding an open airport or getting to an airport. He would not address whether forfeiting one or both games was a possibility. "It may be there has been a combination of problems that has given rise to this situation," he said. Monday's doubleheader originally was scheduled to start at 1 p.m., then was pushed back two hours on Sunday. "We had planned on being here all day anyway," Yankees captain Derek Jeter said. "I don't see how we could play two games today now." The Yankees had urged the Devil Rays to leave Florida on Friday night or Saturday, before the storm caused airports to close. The Yankee Stadium gates opened at 11 a.m., and about 1,000 fans were in the stands on the sunny afternoon when an announcement was made at 12:45 p.m. that the doubleheader would not start on time. Fans were told more information would be available about 2 p.m. Ray Zincone, a 29-year-old from West Warwick, R.I., drove down to New York on Monday morning with his wife, Sheila, and 7-year-old son, Raymond. "I would like to stay if there's a chance to play," he said. The Yankees reported to Yankee Stadium at noon for the doubleheader. "Let's get a grill," Yankees pitcher Mike Mussina said. "Hot dogs and burgers on the field." Link :lol :lol Mussina is a clown.
September 6, 200422 yr Yankees not playing two today: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp I really think the game not being played should be counted as a forfeit. The Devil Rays were told by MLB to get to New York, and they didn't, even though they could have.

They're gonna get to NYC this afternoon, and this just shows baseball isn't life to all of us. I heard my boy Aubrey Huff got trapped in his home or something.

I'm glad they werent forced to forfeit...like the Yankees need anything else to go their way. They have families to protect...i would have done the same thing. How would you like to play while you have no idea how your family is....
