Furcal arrested on DUI charge

September 10, 2004

ATLANTA (AP) -- Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal was arrested early Friday on charges of driving under the influence, speeding and reckless driving, police said. It is the player's second DUI arrest.

Furcal was booked into the Atlanta city jail following his arrest on Interstate 85, authorities said. It was not immediately clear if he took a blood-alcohol test.

A judge set bond at $3,200, and Furcal's next court appearance is Oct. 14.

Cobb County officials told the jail on Friday that the player violated terms of his probation from a June 2000 drunken driving conviction, Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gayle Middlebrook said.

Furcal's 12-month probation sentence would have expired Oct. 29, Cobb County Solicitor General Barry Morgan said.

Furcal previously was sentenced to a year's probation, a $500 fine and 40 hours of community service. His court appeals on the 2000 arrest delayed the start of his probation until last year, Morgan said.

Wow, i've lost all respect I had for him.

Anyone know what kind of car he was driving?
