October 7, 200422 yr i like jazzy guitar...maybe some jazz flute....I'm really into Derek Trucks Band right now....it's a unique mix of Southern Rock, blues, and jazz.
October 8, 200422 yr everything doesn't have to be Southern. Jazz itself has much of it's roots in the South (New Orleans/Memphis/Savannah)... why does everything South have to be considered evil? Have you listened to Derek Trucks Band? About as "Southern" as they get in lyrics (which aren't many lyrics to begin with, since it's all based around Derek Trucks' sick guitar skills) is the phrase "my Florida home". Anyway, I obviously fell for Billy Goat's bait. But I have Derek Trucks' Soul Serenade cd, and Joyful Noise. I recommend both, but especially Soul Serenade. It's intense. Only one song has words (it's a bluesy song with Greg Allman singin). Jazz flute is key in the cd. On the last track, Derek Trucks uses a "sit-tar" (sp?), which is an old African version of a guitar. It is incredible.
