If the Marlins are going to resign Pavano and/or the other players who would become free agents, what date would they have to do that by?

Frankly, I don't have a clue.

I'm optimistic. Pavano's career was resurrected by Loria.

As was Armando's in a sense...coming into this year, Benitez was far from a dependable closer...now, he's arguably a top 5 guy.

Are youa Mets fan? Because only Mets fans in love with John Franco do not consider Benitez a good closer. No doubt he's taken it to another level this year.

With a real offense, Willis pitching well consistently and Beckett putting in a full year we could survive with Mota/Spooneybarger.

I hope the front office learns one of the lesson of this year and that is you can never have too much pitching, both starting and relief.

I thought the lesson to take from this season is that you can't win with pitching and defense alone.

It is, that's why I said in my other post "one of the lessons".

why, because he had a bad year last year?

before 03 he was a top 5 closer and he has always been a top 5 closer in the league ... things are blown a bit out of proportion while in NY
