Palmeiro

He still has some pop left, a great verteran leader, O's won't pick up his option for his next season so he will become a FA

He could sign for peanuts...market isn't crazy for him right now, he just doesn't want to throw it in just yet

He is better than Conine and more affordable, he'd be a great draw...it'd be an event to have him on the team when he retires following next season more likely

Plus we can do that cool HR tracking thing as he climbs his way up :cool

Isn't Tony Bautista an FA?

Matt Clement may be the biggest "value" free-agent available.

Pavano, El Duque, Pedro, Benson. They're all going to be going after the big money, Clement may end up being a $15 million for 3 years kind of guy and that may be the steal of the offseason.

I'd love to get Tony Bautista, but where would he play? It wouldn't really work unless by chance the stadium deal fell through and (god forbid) Lowell didn't pick up his option for next year. Mabye he could play 1st, and Conine could just go back to playing LF with Cabs in RF.

I would look at these players if I were the Marlins, Rafael Palmeiro, Pedro Martinez to replace Carl Pavano, Juan Gonzalez to replace Encar, and Carlos Delgado.

Not bad.. Now why dont you lend the Marlins about $50 million and we'll get all 4 along with re-signing Carl Pavano.

I didn't mean get all those players. I was just saying that those are the hottest players that are free agents, and I would really look to get one or two of them. If they were to get one player they should get Carlos Delgado, but if they want to get two players they should either get Palmeiro and Pedro, or Juan Gonzalez and Pedro, or Palmeiro and Gonzalez. That is what I meant.

Yes, Juan Gonzalez!! Let's throw some money at him so he spends about 90% of the season on the DL....

GREAT IDEA!!!! :whistle

for $1mil it couldnt hurt....

worst comes to worse he gets hurt and you play Aguila in RF...

oh well, there goes the thinking outside the bun....
