October 4, 200421 yr Our Low-A affiliate is changing their name to the Greensboro Grasshoppers next year as part of getting a new stadium. So far a lot of people don't really like it but I think it will catch on and obviously merchandise sales will skyrocket. Just thought I'd let you guys know so that next year when Minor League Reports, Etc. are posted you aren't confused. The new site for the team is www.gsohoppers.com

The new site for the team is www.gsohoppers.com 582137 I was so confused earlier today, was looking at the newspapers in our communications building and glanced at the Greensboro newspaper and saw the big baseball headline on the front page saying "Greensboro Grasshoppers". I didn't have time to read the article so I thought that another team was coming to Greensboro. Anyways it isn't the worst of names. Greensboro Grasshoppers is kind of catchy I guess. Aren't the Marlins going to be playing here right before the season to open the new stadium? They have those games scheduled yet?

I hope I'll be able to go since its on a Saturday and all. I'm still not really used to the name yet since I've been going to games for 10 years and they've been the Bats for all those years(I think they've been the Bats since '93).
October 4, 200421 yr I like it....Greensboro Grasshoppers. Bats didn't fit as well in North Carolina.
October 5, 200421 yr Man what a horrible name. I actually used to live in Greensboro about 10 years ago and always went to Bats games at War Memorial Stadium, what's the reasoning behind the name change? Just because they're moving into a new stadium doesn't mean they need a new, albeit terrible name. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GRASSHOPPERS :lol :lol :lol :lol
October 5, 200421 yr Bats didn't fit as well in North Carolina. 582281 Bats was a perfect name, North Carolina is famous for it's large bat population and numerous bat caves and whatnot.

They expect to make 500k compared to making 80k last year. Hell its better than the Sand Gnats.
October 5, 200421 yr I like it. Bug names are the best. The Marlins have a player development contract with the Greensboro Ba... er.. Grasshoppers through the 2008 season.
