Jackson Seeks Ban On Em's Video

Featured Replies

Michael Jackson is angered by the way he is mocked in rapper Eminem's recently released video "Just Lose It" and has asked cable music stations to remove the video from their rotations.

In the video, Eminem is costumed as Jackson and is seen with a group of boys in the background, jumping around as he sings about Jackson's child molestation allegations: "Come here, little kiddie, on my lap/Guess who's back with a brand new rap."

Jackson has pleaded not guilty in Santa Barbara County to child molestation, conspiracy and administering alcohol to an underage companion.

"I am very angry at Eminem's depiction of me in his video," Jackson said Tuesday in an interview with comedian Steve Harvey on Los Angeles radio station 100.3 FM. "I feel that it is outrageous and disrespectful. It is one thing to spoof, but it is another to be demeaning and insensitive."

Also in the video, Eminem ridicules plastic surgery done on Jackson's nose, and an accident in which Jackson's hair caught fire while he was filming a Pepsi commercial in 1984. One scene even includes Em vomiting all over a Jackson look alike.

"I've admired Eminem as an artist and was shocked by this. The video was inappropriate and disrespectful to me, my children, my family and the community at large," Jackson continued. "It is my hope that the other networks will take BET's lead and pull it."

Only Black Entertainment Television (BET) has agreed to pull the video. The network's president and founder, Robert Johnson, said he felt it was inappropriate to disparage a celebrity.

"BET pulled the video because we feel it is inappropriate to use our network to air a video disparaging Michael's character, or that of any other celebrity," Johnson said.

:lol

I mean, I understand where Michael is coming from... but look at SNL or MAdTv... they all poke fun at celebs, he's not the only one. Freedom of speech, there's nothing he could do about it but to sit back and laugh at himself... or just not even watch it at all. Turn the Tv off, flip the channel, do something.

Companies are different from individuals. They have to make business decisions. I can understand why they did it, but I don't really give a damn. I think the world is better off without Eminem.

i hate the song and i havent seen the video but michael's being to sensitive and BET's acting like Michael's bitch caving in only because of what he once was. i remember tommy davidson advertising the michael jackson mr. potato head in a skit on In Living Color. the potato head even came with a potato peeler to change the complexion, i also remember seeing tommy davidson acting as Michael Jackson trying to break into Maculy Culkin's house in a skit immitating Home Alone on In Living Color and thats pretty offensive but it was never changed. everybody picks on Michael, he brought it on himself.

but they continue to play Nelly's "Tip Drill" video.

I don't have a problem with the video, it's just hypocritical.

I thought it was funny as hell!! Sure it isn't very "PR", but Eminem is an entertainer and thats exactly what he's providing.

I doubt too many stations will ban the video if people want to watch it. Everybody's making fun of Michael Jackson these days, but they are also making fun of Martha Stewart, Bill O'Reilly, etc.
