October 15, 200421 yr For those who post here regularly and are in college, or on a college campus often, what's the political atmosphere like? I know here in Gettysburg is getting to be cut-throat. Everything the Republicans do, the Democrats take it down or top it, and vice-versa. It should only get crazier with the Deaniac himself coming to campus on Oct. 27. What's anyone else's campus like?
October 15, 200421 yr FIU north campus has been pretty calm. im still waiting for a right wing professor, not because im a right winger but for the sheer novelty of finding one. there were people up to a while ago always trying to register everyone to vote and the other day i was offered socialist propaganda which i quickly turned down. it gets real heated in my political parties class between the democrats and the republicans though.
October 15, 200421 yr I've had a couple of right wing professors at FIU but for the most part, they have all been liberals.
October 15, 200421 yr Liberals can get away with murder here at Colby... whenever anything conservative is posted, written, or said, they are quick to erase it, take it down, and blast them for not being "open-minded."
October 15, 200421 yr Tulane is calm, nothing serious. Same is probably true at Northwestern. Both campuses have an active College Republicans group. I remember at Northwestern, when Anne Coulter was brought in by the college Repubs(shudders), she spoke to a lot of non Republicans and it was civil. Same was true when I saw Ben Stein and Kenn Starr. As long as stupid things arent put up, Im sure people dont care. It gets bad when the Israel-Palestine people get into it though.
October 15, 200421 yr Furman is pretty much 90% conservative. The College Democrats are loud, but everyone pretty much is voting Bush, I presume. f_m, College Republicans brought Ben Stein to Furman two years ago, and Ken Starr last year. Must be the same circuit. Also, Jim Demint (Congressman who's running for Senator) and d*** Armey were here last week. Pretty much, it's all elephants here.
October 15, 200421 yr UF seems pretty half/half...both sides speak loudly for the most part, although the Gators for Kerry seem to have a louder voice in the major social areas of the school.
October 15, 200421 yr I'd agree with what DW22 says...also John Edwards is visiting UF campus. NY Gov George Pataki is coming as well, although I dont know when yet.

Am I going to mid-night Madness? You bet! Go Billy-Ball!!

October 15, 200421 yr Midnight madness is pretty fun, they introduce the b-ball teams then do some little activities then have a scrimmage. Pretty fun most of the time.
October 15, 200421 yr OSU's 50/50. We have Dean vs. Dole in a few weeks. I see propaganda for boths sides, though. Although, I've noticed most Boston Red Sox fans are republican for some reason (wearing stickers for Bush/Cheney).... Hmmmmmm...
