2005 Yankees lineup

Yea we have to penalize teams because they spend money to win and bc their fans go to games and people buy the merchandise. Steinnbrenner is still the best owner in sports, and winning brings people to the stadium, sure the yankees are very marketable, but the marlins for example could be too, if the stadium wasnt in the middle of a wasteland, and where all aprking and concessions go to a former owner

Right...because everyone has that Yankee tradition to market huh? The Marlins have no chance to market anywhere close to a product.

Payroll as a percent of total revenue would indicate that George is at the bottom if not near the bottom.

He puts up money because he can his team is just that insanely profitable, no team can come close and no team will.

Look at it as penalizing if you want but Steinbrenner has nothing to do with the likes of the Babe and DiMaggio that made the Yankees who they are today. The Yankees have generations of fans and people will follow them because their parents did, like their grandparents, etc.

How can you even make a comparison with that legacy against ours?

MLB needs to take small steps to give the league more parity. Look at how evenly matched the NFL is each year. Baseball will never end up like the NFL, but the gap between have and have nots doesn't have to be that huge.

i live in Homestead,i drive for about an hour, but i get my a$$ to the ballpark cause i wanna see this team get somewhere...

I have this thing that hinders me its called work. Im only able to go to weekend games, and by weekend i mean saturday and sunday only. If the stadium were closer i could go much more often, which is why yankees stadium fills up its in the middle of the city

well kinda.. it's in the Bronx and a s***ty neighborhood at that

it still takes a while to leave the city and get to the games on time(Shea is closer, I think)

Funny how this started when Boston's collection of talent, that were expected to beat the rich Yankees, failed.

And how the thread died when that collection of talent won.

I've been telling my co-workers all year, just watch next year when Nomar is playing 2B for the Yanks. Now they need to work on getting a 7 man rotation-Brown, Mussina, Vasquez, Wells, Hernandez, Leiber and Pavano. They'll also probably sign Percival for the Pen.
