Or move ARod to 2nd, and put Lowell in 3rd if he decides to leave.

Glad we're not in the AL East.

at what point will mlb step on and say you have gone to far? they might have a 210-220 million dollar payroll next year. at some point something has to be done.

I think his tumor should hit clean up... with all those roids I bet the tumor has more power then Pierre.

Well remember when they held that court thing to decide if they should put a salary cap on? Well everyone said that even though the Yankees are spending a lot of money they still aren't winning the WS every year so its alright.

Well...they make the playoffs ever year and next year they WILL have taken it WAY too far.

Seriously...this is getting ridiculous

Not a Giambi fan I take it. :plain

Why would MLB try to stop it? They will pay 40% for anything they spend over the salary cap and they will still make tons of money.

The only way to stop it is to have a luxury tax that keeps getting bigger the more times you go over it, and not keep it at a 40% max.

Even with all the money that the Yankees are spending.... I still think they can be stopped in the playoffs...but during the regular season they can't be stopped...its just too long. The Yankees will make it to the playoffs again next year but I don't know if they will win the WS...

because at some point fans will stop going to the games because their hometown teams can't afford a franchise player because teams like the red sox, yankees, and orioles keep throwing out ridiculous amounts of money for a player. don't you think the royals would have loved to have kept beltran? ofcourse but they knew the yankees or another rich team would throw an amount of money so big out there they wouldn't be able to afford. what if they don't win next year? will payroll sky rocket another 30 million? it's complete bulls***. at SOME point selig is gonna have to say enough is enough steinbrenner and henry.

It really isn't fair that teams can't keep some of their players because other teams ae offering them tons of money....baseball is starting to get a little stupid. We need to stop this.

Agreed.

And so it begins.

Steinbrenner is the best owner in sports. He actually spends the revenue his team makes on the team! He doesn't pocket it like John Henry and the crooks in Boston. Or Baltimore. Or twenty other teams. Even Artie Moreno and Frank McCourt of the Angels and Dodgers are cutting payroll next year after selling over 3000000 tickets. Be thankful that owners like Steinbrenner exist. When a few more like him own teams then we can start levelling the playing field and discussing enhanced revenue sharing.

And so it begins.

You might want to read up on how the Yankees despite the payroll are BY FAR the most profitable team in MLB...

George is ranking in more in profits than any other owner he could raise his payroll many more times over what he has it now and still be comfortably the most

It's not that the other owners aren't spending, it's the case that many of them can't come near realizing profits that George has because he has the New York Yankees. Only the Yanks and the Sox claimed profits last season the Yanks had profits 5x as high despite the huge payroll.

This is ridiculous, we need a free-agent signing limit or salary cap or something to that effect.

Yea we have to penalize teams because they spend money to win and bc their fans go to games and people buy the merchandise. Steinnbrenner is still the best owner in sports, and winning brings people to the stadium, sure the yankees are very marketable, but the marlins for example could be too, if the stadium wasnt in the middle of a wasteland, and where all aprking and concessions go to a former owner

there will not be a salary cap in baseball anytime soon.the yankees and red sox pay enough in revenew sharing to keep the MLB FO happy..also why should teams that have smart owners and loyal fans suffer for teams that dont get people to the ball park...am sorry but everybody complains that the marlins dont have enough money to get the good players, who's fault is that, ours and Huizenga..we need to get our butts to the ball park or things will never change...i went to about 20 to 25 games this year that it was nice and sunny and the park was empty...till we become a real baseball city we shouldnt complain about things like a salary cap..

i live in Homestead,i drive for about an hour, but i get my a$$ to the ballpark cause i wanna see this team get somewhere...

I have this thing that hinders me its called work. Im only able to go to weekend games, and by weekend i mean saturday and sunday only. If the stadium were closer i could go much more often, which is why yankees stadium fills up its in the middle of the city

hey i know work is work and i apploud u for at least getting out there on the weekends...

At first I looked at that lineup and said it was unreaslistc, but it might not be that far off. You would figure the yankees are going to want to get beltran because they need a center fielder. He is tearing it up right now, so only the yankees are probably going to be able to afford him. Then I am pretty sure they dont want to keep John Olerud at first base, why not sign Delgado to like a two year deal since he was hurt this year. Then you could alternate Giambi with Delgado at first/dh. They wont get nomar because they dont need him.
