November 5, 200421 yr Wants a 10-year deal... (ESPN NEWS) 608780 Yeah I just saw that, there are only a few teams in MLB that can accommodate this request, Im guessing he will end up in a Yankees uniform (what a surprise), but dont count out the Dodgers or Mariners trying to make a run at this guy, but 10 years at lets say 15 mil per year, Georgie better getting his Visa Check Card ready
November 5, 200421 yr The Marlins could have gotten Vlad last year, in retrospect, they were only a few million away for one of the best players in the game. I say make room in the payroll, somehow for this guy, take a loan out of the bank and get him. Keep him and Cabs together for 10 years, and with Lowell the rest of his career, thats a heart of a line up of a winner.
November 5, 200421 yr Author Boras' talking about 10 years at $18-22 mil per year, an Alex Rodriguez type contract... :plain
November 5, 200421 yr Boras' talking about 10 years at $18-22 mil per year, an Alex Rodriguez type contract... :plain 608789 If this were to happen, baseball will be in some trouble, dedicating $180,000,000 - $220,000,000 to one player, its getting out of control, a soft salary cap is what is needed in baseball, the cap needs a hard bottom and a soft top, I believe it is needed to ensure the longevity of baseball
November 5, 200421 yr He'll be lucky to get $13 million per year. Contracts have been going down, not up in recent years. Boras is just an arsehole.
November 5, 200421 yr Boras is a total jerk, but he definitely works for his clients (and his own) best interests.
November 5, 200421 yr Let's look at 10 year contracts and what they've done to teams. Texas Rangers- ARod, Last place. Colorado Rockies- Admin Walker (i think), Todd Helton, last place. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Seattle they're gonna spend big bucks this year.
November 5, 200421 yr The Giants have some money to spend this year, but unfortunately Carlos Beltran isn't in their plans. They need a CF and a SS. I see Edgar Renteria in SF next year.... As for this contract..for baseball's sake, I hope he doesn't get it. A-Rod's deal was the last contract that we'll see like that for a while.

I see Edgar Renteria in SF next year.... 609311 Renteria would cost more than he's worth. I'd go after Cabrera, or maybe put Feliz at short. As for CF, we picked up Grissom's option so we need to trade/ dump Tucker and sign Alou, and start Mohr at center, move Grip to the bench. We need to sign Percival, plain and simple As for this contract..for baseball's sake, I hope he doesn't get it. A-Rod's deal was the last contract that we'll see like that for a while. He might get a contract worth 18+ million a year, but it definitely won't be for 10 years. If it were that long, he'd only get around 13 million.
November 6, 200421 yr Maybe the Marlins can trade Lowell, Castillo, Burnett, LoDuca and Juan Pierre and try to sign him
