Full List

Yeah, I have a couple issues with the list myself, but I agree with it alot more than the 500 Greatest Songs list by Rolling Stone.

eh ... its more about the popularity of the song rather than the actual solo

good ones:

15. Floods - Dimebag Darrel

51. Master of Puppets - Kirk Hammet

9. Crazy Train - Randy Rhoads

One thing that needs to be top ten is definitely "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits.

Other than that it's hard to argue.

ive said it before, and ill say it again: Slash's guitar solo on "November Rain" is the greatest thing a person has ever done with an electric guitar in the history of recorded music. period. listen to that thing. please. over and over.

highlights outside the top 20 for me:

22. Sultans of Swing- Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits)

37. Sweet Child O' Mine- Slash (GnR)

46. Hot for Teacher- Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen)

66. Blue Sky- Duane Allman/Dicky Betts (Allman Bros.)

Agreed on November Rain.

But seriously, I'm in awe of Sultans of Swing.

Agreed Blue Sky should be higher. Also, an underrated band/song is Green Grass and High Tides by the Outlaws.

I'm happy (and not surprised) to see Erruption and Voodoo Chile up there.

Whew, at first I didnt see Layla up there....good call on having it up there. You could take quite a few Clapton songs (or Allman bros songs really).

Derek Trucks should have some songs in there, but he's newer, and it's not as much Rock as it is Jazz/Blues/Rock/etc. mixed.

I have this issue and agree with a lot of it.

Here is my top guitar solos list:

1. November Rain

2. Freebird

Every other guitar solo (not counting classical guitar and Hendrix) in history of music is a huge drop off from these two solos.

Mike McCready's live solos when he improvises (Yellow Ledbetter, Black, Alive, Evenflow and Nothing As it Seems are the ones he does the best with) in shows are some of the best guitar solos I've ever heard and don't get the recognition they deserve, IMO.

Although I really enjoy Freebird, I still believe that there are some of ahead of it.

The list sucks because Randy Rhoads should have the top 15 all to himself

Goodbye to Romance is Randy's best guitar work with Ozzy. I love that freakin' song.

The list sucks because Randy Rhoads should have the top 15 all to himself

Above Hendrix? Tough to justify that one I think.

One I forgot to compliment was Comfortably Numb. That is an amazing piece of work by Gilmour.

Another solo I'm disappointed not to see at all is "Do You Feel Like We Do" by Frampton.

The list sucks because Randy Rhoads should have the top 15 all to himself

I can agree with that
