Do you believe in ghosts?

Featured Replies

I believe in ghost, now. I didn't believe in them until a few years ago.

My family and I lived in this big Victorian house, and every night we would hear someone come down the stairs at exactly 1:15 at night. Our stairs were really creaky and loud so it would basically wake up every one in the house. We would also notice our rocking chair rock back and forward when no one was in it. Well we kinda dismissed this until about 5 months later something would shake my bed to wake me up at exacty 6:15 every morning. If I were to turn over, it would shake my bed even harder.

The daughter of the man and woman who lived in the house said that her father built the house, and that both her mother and her father died in that house. She said that late at night her mother used to check on her and her siblings. She also said that her mother would wake them up at 6:15 in the morning by shaking the bed.

I believe in Ghosts.

My problem is that I keep sleep walking. A couple years back I went all the way into this forest and I did't even Know it. Also I hear that in the early morning hours that I walk from room to room slamming doors. Back then my mom tried to talk to me while I was sleep walking but I did't speak. They just assumed I was ignoring them. I am afraid that I will turn out to be one of those people who Kill people in their sleep. :( :banghead

I have never seen or heard or felt a ghost before, but I like reading stories about the nice ones. Here's a story about my favorite ghost, George. It is said that he haunts the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Walt Disney World. He was a construction worker and died while working on the ride.

Here's a story on George coming from a WDW Castmember who works Pirates.

Jolly Roger:This thread was developed after we found an inside source who posts on this board regularly. The story of George's Ghost (from the WDW attraction) is shared below, and PirateJeffWDW has been gracious enough to answer any questions you may have. And without any further ado, I turn the thread over to PirateJeffWDW.

From a previous thread posted on 6/28/04:

Yes... sorry I have been so delayed on the stories, lubbers. George is the ghost of a worker who built PotC (at WDW). He likes to cause havoc in our attraction when things don't go his way.

Every morning when we go in to open the attraction, we have to say good morning to George to keep him happy. One of the castmembers does a walk-thru then ride-thru of the whole building and makes sure that George's door is closed. This is the door behind the dog in the jail scene. This door is not a normal place that any person would be, so it's strange when it's open. If it's open, George is in a destructive mood, and it needs to be closed or the ride will go down.

Throughout the day, castmembers do ride-thrus to check the animation and show scenes, including George's door.

At the end of the night, the closing castmembers have to say goodnight to George or he will be in a bad mood the next day.

There have been some castmembers who don't believe in the whole George thing, so they don't talk to him and more often than not, something will happen and the ride will go down.

There have been lots and lots of times when I've noticed George's door open and before someone can go to shut it (which is kinda hard, because it's a hard place to get to) the ride will go down.

I don't know exactly what stories in particular to tell about George but if anyone has questions, I'd be glad to answer.

frozenwind16: I've got a question. Do you know anybody who's seen George, or had him pull a prank on them?

(Sheesh, Disney's got a bunch of ghostson thir rides. First HM, then ToT, and now PotC. Weird. O.o)

ghost1000: Was George that ornery in real life? This is a great story. I'll have to look for George's door on my next trip.

PirateJeffWDW: To answer two questions in one post:

I don't know much about George before he was a ghost so I'm not sure if he was a trouble-maker in life. All I know was he was a construction worker kind of guy.

As far as I'm concerned, I've seen George and experienced some of his pranks. I would consider him making the ride break down numerous times a prank.?

And the time I think I saw him (I'm not sure if I've told this story here yet) I was closing Turnstiles and a friend was closing Load. Closing Turnstiles pretty much just means closing the doors, but the closing Load CM has to do a final ride-thru. My friend never wanted to do it alone so I closed Turnstiles and went in the do the ride-thru with her. We got into the boat and gave the thumbs up to the Tower CM to send our boat, but he was pointing to the gates next to us. There was an older man standing there and he asked if he could ride with us, so we said sure. He was slightly overweight with a beard, wearing a tropical kind of shirt. We sat in the 3rd row and he sat in the last (6th) row. As we got going he kept asking us if we believed the ghost stories associated with Pirates. And we said yes and then just kinda ignored him. When we were in the burning city, we were gonna turn around to point out George's window to him.... but he was gone!!! We are totally convinced it was George.

Another Pirate friend of mine was gone from work for a long time because she was really sick. When she got back, she was working Load 1, which meant that the Load 2 boats would go past her. In the 6th row of one of the Load 2 boats, sat a man fitting George's description. As he passed Load 1, he called her by name and said "It's good to see you back." She was totally confused because she had never seen him before, like you normally would with AP holders, and she knew he wasn't a CM because he had facial hair. A more senior CM told her it was George!!
