Could the piss poor offer they gave to Carl ave something to do with it? It might. Aj and Carl are reportedly best friends, so when you see your best friend get let go, getting an offer just for the sake of the Marlins saying they offered it to him, it is believeable AJ wouldn't be too happy. The Marlins are not a team that can be signing guys to 4 year deal worth 7-10 million dollars a year, especially guys who are known to get hurt. He's already had Tommy John surgery once, his arm was tender towards the end of last year, what happens if he goes down after they sign him? They will be struggling for years. With the unsure future of the franchise they have to be sure every dollar they spend contributes somehow.
