December 22, 200421 yr I don't mean to post something that has been talked about over and over, but did anyone see A.J talking to Joe Rose on Sunday night? Didn't sound like he wanted to go anywhere. He mentioned how he loves playing in South Florida. He loves pitching in this weather, he loves his teammates, etc... He also admitted that he's a little intrigued as to what could be out there for him after watching Carl Pavano sign with the Yanks and he admitted that he didn't like pitching in front of a handful of fans in September, but how can you argue with him on that one. However, based on all the A.J bashing I've seen here recently, it sounded like he'd be willing to sign a longterm deal with the Marlins. If that's the case, I say forget all the trade talks and lock him up. Forget Eric Miton or Odalis Perez.... Work on keeping A.J...
December 22, 200421 yr After all the s*** talking he did over the past few weeks and months, I wouldn't be surprised if Lowell and/or Niner had an influence on this interview. The reason everyone wants to trade AJ is because everyone assumes that we won't be able to sign him once he becomes a free agent after this season. The s*** talking he did certainly didn't help public opinion, but peoples reactions would not be much difference and people would still want to trade AJ. If we can sign him, great, get it done right now. If we can't sign him, trade him.
December 22, 200421 yr Author The guy speaks his mind and I have no problem with that. Thing is, everyone was under the impression that he was not signing here, no matter what. While that may be true, based on the contracts he may be offered elsewhere, it's not as bad as originally thought. Turns out, he would like to stay here.. I say get it done now...
December 22, 200421 yr If we can sign him, great, get it done right now. If we can't sign him, trade him. 640439[/snapback] Hopefully that's the mindset.
December 22, 200421 yr If AJ doesn't resign before the season is over, he isn't going to resign with us. He knows the FA pastures are far greener than playing here in Miami.
December 22, 200421 yr Of course he would be willing to come back.....if we gave him 10 mil a year...all bout the money
December 22, 200421 yr AJ WANTS TO GO TO NEW YORK THEY HAVE A REAL GOOD PITCHER IN JAIVER VAZQUEZ THAT AT THIS POINT CANT GO BACK SO LETS MAKE THIS DEAL NOW THAT WE GOT A SECOUND CHANCE AND WHO KNOWS MAYBEE WE CAN THROW IN ENC
