July 10, 200323 yr Marlins closing in on Benitez The Marlins appear poised to make a deal for Mets closer Armando Benitez, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported July 9. Citing two major league sources, the newspaper reports that the Marlins are considered frontrunners for Benitez's services. Right-handers Nate Bump, Justin Wayne and Blaine Neal and Double-A left-hander Ryan Snare are among the candidates to be traded to New York. Entering play on July 9, Benitez (2-3, 3.11) has 21 saves in 27 chances this season. I think the obvious answer is yes...
July 10, 200323 yr i dont like Benitez, frankly i cant stand his a**. but you cant argue with his #'s. i also wouldnt give up on trying to get Lightenburg from the O's. the only question is about their salaries and whether we would be willing to take them. how much do they make?
July 10, 200323 yr WC, Thanks for up-date. Sounds final. Didn't think McKeon would give up Bump. Oh well, that's baseball.
July 10, 200323 yr Author We won't give-up all four of them. They will get 3 most likely, but not 4. Yea, the opening line of, "The Marlins are poised to make a deal..." kinda gave it away...
July 10, 200323 yr i dont really think McKeon has that much say.... he may not be giving up on Bump, but Benitez is real good and to get good players(who come almost free), you need to give up good players i hope it's Justin Wayne and Blaine Neal(if 3, id rather give up Bump) but Bump and Snare should remain in teal
July 10, 200323 yr Author i dont really think McKeon has that much say.... I don't think he has any say...
July 10, 200323 yr he's the manager, all he can do is give his opinion. but he really doesnt have any power.
July 10, 200323 yr unless he's been lifting thats true. it would also help if he quit those cigars. how about this? Celebrity Boxing: Jack McKeon versus William "I cant eat enough hotdogs to fill a fridge" Perry
July 10, 200323 yr Author Celebrity Boxing: Jack McKeon versus William "I cant eat enough hotdogs to fill a fridge" Perry Didn't he eat like 4? I could do that in my sleep...
July 10, 200323 yr Yes, We need bullpen help and he will help tremendously. He has great stuff and throws very hard. I dont know if the mets will make the trade since we are in there division though...
July 10, 200323 yr im sorry, William "i cant eat enough hotdogs to fill a mini-cooler" Perry. I normally eat two. i ate an 8 ouncer once while i was on vacation last year. im literally drooling over the key board as i think of it. DAMN i want another one of those :banghead thinking about this is better than baseball
July 10, 200323 yr Author Yes, We need bullpen help and he will help tremendously. He has great stuff and throws very hard. I dont know if the mets will make the trade since we are in there division though... They would have no prombem trading him to us what so ever. It's not like he'll be here again next year, or like they are in the race with us while he will be here. They would have no reluctance to trade him anywhere.
July 10, 200323 yr wouldnt mind keeping him here next year(if we actually get him).... but at a reasonable cost
July 10, 200323 yr Author wouldnt mind keeping him here next year(if we actually get him).... but at a reasonable cost Well I'm trying to think of what his price tag would be... It might be considerably less with the year he's having...
