Alomar Looking to Get to 3K Hits with the Rays

Alomar selected the Devil Rays over the Cardinals, signing a one-year, $600,000 deal with another possible $200,000 in incentives, because he wants playing time, which translates to happiness and hopefully the 276 hits he needs to reach 3,000.

The D-Rays are getting better and I think there is little opportunity for a guy like him to get the playing time that he thinks he can get even thou he's a vet

how old is he anyways, like 36/37?

He will come like 210 short.

He will get to 3K during 2006. Not that he needs that to get in the hall

Even with his declining skills over the last couple of years he is easily getting to 3000 hits...can't be said of many players.

Following in Boggs footsteps

Boggs was a much better player at the end of his career than Alomar.

Yea and that can be attributed to the fact Boggs didn't flush his career down the toilet by playing for the Mets :p

While we're making fun of the Mets...

Jay Leno, on Colin Powell pushing the button to drop the New Year's ball in Times Square:

"Usually, when someone drops the ball in New York, he's wearing a Mets cap."
