July 14, 200323 yr Did anyone catch Denny Bautista's showing in the Futures Games? He had two strikeouts in one inning of work. The kid has nasty, nasty stuff and and a funky delivery. He looks to be a right-handed version of Dontrelle - difficult to pick up the ball upon his release. Tony Gwynn sang his praises and Peter Gammons talked about his off-season workouts with Pedro and the rest of the Martinez family. It's no wonder the Marlins refused to include him in any deals. He looks to be an awesome prospect!!! :thumbup
July 14, 200323 yr Saw the game on ESPN2 and he is like his cousin Pedro Martinez in many of his pitches. He got out of the inning pretty well.
July 14, 200323 yr so this denny bautista is playing in AA carolina right? so maybe we should look forward to seeing him in 2005? maybe even late next year
July 14, 200323 yr Author Correct, he was recently promoted to Carolina along with Trevor Hutchinson - another top prospect. Both had been tearing up the FSL with Jupiter. look for continued progress from both.

July 14, 200323 yr Author Another young arm at Carolina is Donnie Bridges. I believe he is currently 7-1 for the Mudcats. When the Fish sign Jeff Allison they will have a nice stable of young arms throughout the organization. Bautista, Hutch, Levinski, Bridges, and Wayne just to name a few.
July 14, 200323 yr When the Fish sign Jeff Allison they will have a nice stable of young arms throughout the organization. what if they dont
July 14, 200323 yr Author They will still have a number of excellent prospects. Why wouldn't the Marlins sign Allison?
July 14, 200323 yr yup allison is being a real dickhead he seems very cocky of himself. when they are interviewed him at fenway park, he said yea hi i'm happy too be with the marlins i'm from somewhere in massachusettes and then recited every single one of his stats. just in the interview he has this cocky sense about him, i think he is going to squeeze the marlins out of every dollar he can get
July 14, 200323 yr D Bridges 7 1 0 2.92 22 12 1 1 83.1 50 32 27 Player W L S ERA G GS CG SHO IP H R ER He might need another season @ Carolina because of his BB/K ratio, but everything else looks good for Donny...he might be a very valuable middle reliever if he cant work out his control issues.
July 14, 200323 yr Denny Bautista: I hope he is on. He might be in the big leagues quickly. He throws 95-97 (mph) and has a big-league breaking ball. If he throws it, and his changeup, for strikes, it's lights out. He's electric. A tall, skinny kid. I cant wait to see this freakin kid!
