The only good thing is that maybe they would offer you a job at the end of the ten months.

Average 90 hour weeks=13 hour days=11 hours of "freetime."

7 hours to sleep=4 hours of "free time."

You'd be banking on about 4 hours of freetime each day, and 28 hours the entire week.

The Florida Marlins are looking for an intern in media relations. Position runs from late February through November or December. Pay is $500/month (not taxed). Other benefits include meals at home games, occasional additional pay for doing stats on broadcasts, and tickets. Requires flexible hours including weeknights, weekends and holidays, averaging 65-70 hours/week, although it can top 100 late in the season, and 90-hour weeks are normal during homestands. Requires strong knowledge of baseball and baseball stats, although if you're in the dugout you're all set. Requires lots of photocopying, decent computer skills and strong writing and editing skills. Experience with Quark Xpress and fluency in Spanish are preferred but not mandatory. If interested, contact the Florida Marlins by phone or e-mail. The main number is 305.626.7400- ask for media relations.

I was thinking the same thing. Although, it sounds like a summer job for someone young... like someone that's a freshman in college.

No, because it starts in February, and school isn't out until May. And it continues through November, two months after school starts again.

Why do they need you in feburary? Its alot of work but could be fun.

By the way when you showed how much free time everyone would have, factor in driving time home

this would be perfect for me a year from today. right now i cant possibly pull off a 65-70 hour week let alone 90 and keep up with my classes. it sucks to cause im a tv production major.

Slave labor but if you're destined to make a career in the sports biz, its what there is.

And plenty of "other duties as asssigned".

the worst part is that unless you are offered a job at the end of the year its a big risk

I doubt most college students have that much time from Feb-May and Sept-October.... and anyone out of college would be looking for a better way to make money unless their folks cant hold them afloat for one more year

speaking of slave wages, one of my favorite lines ever is when the patriots offered Ty Law a 50 million dollar contract (riches for a CB ever) he turned it down and said "I dont work for slave wages"

I applied.....Basically this job is a stepping stone....if you do it well then your foot is in the door for more baseball jobs.

How did you apply? Did you call up the media relations office and speak to a rep, or something?

I'd do this if I hadn't made out my schedule for this semester already, it sounds like alot of fun.
