So what do you all think of that?

I say that the Bucs and the 49ers'll be the best teams in the league next season. The Bucs are defending champs and the 49ers have one of the best players IMO (Terrel Owens).

12-4 Green Bay :lol

I'm going to keep this in mind ....

You predicted Fins to be 9-7 and Green Bay 12-4 ...

*I'm not sure Titans will win the Divsion with the improvements the Jaguars did to their already talented young defense.

*The Carolina Panthers is another team that can surprise people this year.

*I see the AFC North wide...

Minus the Fins will be 9-7 they have a tough schedule and put your pride away and realize they will be no better then 10-6.

The Packers I have a feeling will end up 11-5. That is my gut instinct is 11-5. But I predict 10-6.

Here is my reason for the Fins....

Junior Seau is old and will get my "Hardy Nickerson Award" for the Washed Up Linebacker Acquisition of the Year. Brian Griese is better then Fiedler but is not "The Answer" like some may think. You guys have a poor draft. James McKnight is overrated as a starter. Randy McMichael, Chris Chambers and Ricky Williams cannot carry the offense all year. The Defense will no doubt be good. You have an excellent pass D. And a great D Line. But Tim Bowens looks a little old to me. Junior Seau and Tim Bowens are aged and I think they may not deserve the billing that you guys give them. Overall I think the Fins could be 10-6 or 9-7. I see either as a distinct possibility.

As for my reason for the Pack...

Favre is still the best there is period. If Ahman Green didn't miss 6 games last year he would have lead the league is Rushing Yards and Total Rushing. The Pack can't get assaulted by injuries like they were last year. If Green Bay only suffers half the injuries they had last year they will be much improved. But it may not show in the Record Column due to a very tough schedule with games at home against Philadelphia, San Francisco and Denver, the Lambeau advantage will be the reason they go undefeated at home. But with tough road games in which they will lose against Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Oakland, and St. Louis. Green Bay may lose a fifth game at home but its doubtful. If Green Bay loses 5 look for those 5 too all be on the road. As for their acquisitions, this isn't an acquisition, but Robert Ferguson or Javon Walker (whoever ends up starting next to Driver) will have a breakout season. The Packers offense should be in the top 5 or 7 this year. But the question will be Green Bays defense. The Defense should see as much as 5 new starters. DT- Kenny Peterson (rookie), DE- Joe Johnson, MLB- Nick Barnett (rookie), OLB- Hannibal Navies, & CB- Al Harris. That doesn't exactly help team chemistry. The Pack has easily one of the 5 best passing defenses in football, they finished 2nd in Pass Defense last year to Tampa Bay overall in the NFL. And the other downfall for Green Bay will be the Kick and Punt Return squads. They were a distinct weakness last year, and should be this year whether its Robert Ferguson or Antonio Chatman returning, they shouldn't be any good, and will force Brett and Co. to put together a lot of 75-90 yard scoring drives. Green Bay will be 10-6 or 11-5.

Minus what do you think the Fins will be this year? Because everything I have read says "don't be fooled by offseason moves, with a bad head coach, and overrated offense, the Dolphins are also an overrated team." Thats advice I have seen from the likes of Fox Sports Net, Street & Smiths, ESPN, & Sports Illustrated.

Also it doesn't seem you give my picks any credibility.

Last year I picked 23 teams records exactly right. 4 teams records were one game off either way. 1 team with 2 games wrong either way. And 4 teams with 3 or more games off either way. *Note* when I say "either way" that means I could have picked them X Amount wins over what they were over or X Amount of Wins what they were under. I'll dig you guys a link up for you all of my picks. Its dated and everything for you all.

I could sit here and counter every thing you said but I'm not.Are you willing to do a wager on who will finish with a better record?

Give me your phone number or address,

I'll bet you amount of wins Green Bay and Miami finish with combined!

So example....

Lets say Green Bay finishes 12-4 and Miami 9-7.

12+9=21= $21 total and I win.

Say Miami finishes 12-4 and Green Bay 9-7 you would get $21.

Other examples would be if both teams finish 10-6 or the same record nobody gets money.

So combined the 2 teams win totals at the end of the season and whatever team has a better record you or I get the money.

Why do you think Miami will have a better record then Green Bay?

Green Bay:

vs. Minnesota - - - W

vs. Detroit - - - - - W

@ Arizona - - - - - W

@ Chicago - - - - - W

vs. Seattle - - - - - W

vs. Kansas City - - L

@ St. Louis - - - - L

Bye Week

@ Minnesota - - - - L

vs. Philadelphia- - L

@ Tampa Bay - - - L

vs. San Francisco - W

@ Detroit - - - - - - W

vs. Chicago - - - - W

@ San Diego - - - - W

@ Oakland - - - - - L

vs. Denver - - - - - W

10-6

Miami:

vs. Houston - - - W

@ N.Y. Jets - - - - L

vs. Buffalo - - - - W

Bye Week

@ N.Y. Giants - - L

@ Jacksonville - - W

vs. New England- W

@ San Diego - - - W

vs. Indianapolis - W

@ Tennessee - - - L

vs. Baltimore - - - W/L (pick em)

vs. Washington - W

@ Dallas - - - - - - W

@ New England - - L

vs. Philadelphia - - L

@ Buffalo - - - - - - L

vs. N.Y. Jets - - - - W

9-7/10-6

You guys could beat Baltimore at home. But there it is. And plus Dave Wannstedt is one of the most overrated coaches in football. I should know. I saw him with the Bears year in year out. Your guys offense will be poor because hes so damn conservative. If I were him I would have Griese throwing the long ball to Chambers and McMichael every other play after Williams.

I'll show you a loss by loss reasoning...

@ N.Y. Jets - - Their so damn tough at home. Its a death trap. One of the best home field advantages. Great fans. Offense will be a little hurt (the Jets offense). But their defense is solid. And once the crowd starts chanting "J-E-T-S, JETS! JETS! JETS!" that swings momentum and pumps the Jets up. Like I said with a good defense and an above average offense will be Miami's demise here.

@ N.Y. Giants - - Great team all around! Good offense. Good defense. A much more complete and rounded team then Miami. Miamis D should hold the Giant offense in check for about 14-20 points. But the Giants D will easily hold Miamis O in check also.

@ Tennessee - - Tennessee is going to contend for it all.

vs. Philadelphia - - Offense, Defense, Special Teams, Coaching. They got the total package. And the Birds will love going down South for a vacation in which they can pick up a "W" in a defensive battle.

@ Buffalo - - The Fish will freeze over in this late December game. Buffalos much improved defense with Takeo Spikes, Jeff Posey, Izell Reese, Chris Kelsay will be very good additions. Ricky Williams will find the running tough. Throwing the ball for the Fins will be like throwing a boulder, it just won't fly. The Bills offense will be good for about 20 points against the frozen fishies.

@ New England - - Great team. Its a late late December game. Afternoon kickoff time. It'll be a bit chilly for you guys up there. Tom Brady and his high flying passing game will combine with a revamped Pats defense to put the Fish on ice.

There you go. The reason for all 6 of your "sure fire losses"

If you can say the Miami Dolphins, who have 9 Pro Bowl defenders, the best RB in the game, and a VASTLY improved WR core with much more talent and depth at QB will finish 9-7 with a straight face, you're crazy...

I'm trying to figure out how the Patriots, who will be a worse team than last year, respectfully, will have a better record than Miami. And that Buffalo will be as good as the Dolphins!

Let me guess you said the same thing last year?

exactly Rune.....

I don't predict the post-season, but these are MY predictions...

  • Author

*NOTE* all of the following I am saying is not an Anti-Dolphin basis. Because I hold no grudge against the Fins.

WC you don't seem to give me the credibility I deserve. Check out my predictions from last year and compare them to any expert on ESPN or S-I you want. I guaruntee they are better. The picks are dated and everything. They were from last July. Check em' out, they make good reading at the least. Also make sure if/when you read my picks to have a list of last years results and playoff seedings handy to see just how scarily good those picks were....

http://forums.sciflicks.com/showthread.php...49161#post49161

WC listen to Ramp a fellow Fin fan. They should be unbelievable. But for one reason or another and usually 2 reasons they can't put it together. One reason is Wannstedt. The other reason is whatever happens to go wrong for you guys that year (injuries, offense, etc., etc.)

If your including Seau in the list of Pro Bowl defenders. Don't. Because he will be for you guys what Hardy Nickerson was for us. An old, slow, washup that just fills a roster spot.

Brian Griese has become interception prone the past 2 years. Fiedler is not a good starter. He wins and thats what counts. But he isn't a "bonafide" starter.

The Patriots have made some great moves on improving their defense this year. But let me explain why Buffalo will be just as good as you guys.

Wild Card you are one of the "Dreamer" fans that I have referred to. Just a bunch of blind pride.

Bills- Takeo Spikes, Jeff Posey, Izell Reese and Chris Kelsay are great additions to the Bills D. The Bills Pass Defense was in the Top 10 already. And with Pat Washington and Sam Adams will improved a Run Defense that was Ranked 29th.

Pat Williams weighs 315 pounds and Sam Adams comes in at 330. With Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher and Jeff Posey running behind those 2 behemoths, they'll do just what they did in Baltimore with Sam Adams, Tony Siragusa, Ray Lewis, Sharper, and Boulware the year they won it all.

The Bills Run Defense will be lethal. Their Pass D though not producing INT's, they are still ranked the 6th best Pass D which is one behind Miami's Pass D believe it or not ( www.nfl.com

WC you don't seem to give me the credibility I deserve.

Spoken like a true analyst...

BTW: If you were comparing Hardy Nickerson to Junior Seau you don't deserve credibility.

  • Author

Dude I know Junior Seau personally. My cousin married Junior Seaus cousin.

I've met him 2 or 3 times. John Hall married Pauo (pronounced "Poo")

Hardy Nickerson last I checked had more tackles all time then Seau.

WC check out the link of my picks. They are dated July 21, 2002 (TWO THOUSAND TWO). I know more about football then most people.

So I guess you have nothing to counter my points about Buffalo and New England?

So because you've met Junior Seau 2 or 3 times him and Nickerson are comparable? To you Farve is better than Marino (I don't know why...) but Marino's career stats are much better, respectfully. I personally know Brad Johnson. He's my sisters best friends brother-in-law. So what? Does that mean I can compare him to Rich Gannon?

WC listen to Ramp a fellow Fin fan. They should be unbelievable. But for one reason or another and usually 2 reasons they can't put it together. One reason is Wannstedt. The other reason is whatever happens to go wrong for you guys that year (injuries, offense, etc., etc.)

Ramp aint a Fins fan.... he despises them

  • Author

Okay the topic of Best QB ever could be debated from any QB stand point (Marino, Favre, Young, Montana, Elway).

But Seau is technically like a 5th or 6th cousin.

Not just because I know him. But also because I've played with him. He is good. But he has lost his step. He is a mere shell of what he was even 3 years ago. He is still good. But nowhere near what he was. Just like Nickerson in Green Bay last year.

Ramp not a Fin fan? So who do you like? Bucs? Jags? Dirty Birds (falcons)? Panthers? Saints?

exactly Rune.....

the Fins should be unbelievable...... but in 1 way or another, they never put it together

Wildcard, listen to this. it happens every year when we're suppose to win it all, and every year something crazy happens. i hope we win it all, but last years team was suppose to go all the way with Ricky, the running game was all we had been missing the last few years remember? we finally get a running game, a rushing champion for God's sake, and we finished 9-7. yeah, Junior should help but before you get to all this "vastly improved recieving corps...linebacking corps" stuff, i have only one question for you. and if you try to find some way of arguing that was due to something we were missing, than i give up and you are just to damn optimistic.

Did you watch the Patriots game at the end of the season?

  • Author

WC what I'm saying is I've seen him when he was with the Chargers and I saw him 3 months ago.

He just isn't what he normally is. And actually we played tackle football. Kind of a family get together on mass proportions.

But I'm also drawing this off on the film I have from the Chargers last year. He just isn't what he was. And I'm telling you its coming.

Come January WC you'll say "dammit Phlub you were right"

WC look man. Your outgunned. Marlins02 I know is a Fin Fan. Something always goes wrong for you guys.

Personally MO is that The Fins don't know how to play as a team.

Of course having bone head as your coach does not make it better but I can't explain how The Fins could lose that much with that good of a team.

So I'm guessing they just can't play as a team and if that's true they have ZERO chance.

I watched that game, and everyone knows we fell apart because of Wanny's play calling. That's why the rumors of him leaving were floating around.

Last year we had not nearly as much depth at EVERY position, and not as much starting talent. You can't dismiss that fact that we have gained talent, experience, depth, ect. The only direction is up.

OMG!

The Fins were predicted by many to win The AFC.

Somehow I don't think they lived up to expectations and seriously how many times do you think they can do that before they just go down for good?

  • Author

Well you say there is nowhere but up. Ask the Redskins about that one.

Wanny sucks. Like I said. I saw it when he was in Chicago. He never promoted TEAM CHEMISTRY at all. He didn't let his coaches coach. He just sent your boys out there and let them play with no direction.

Griese is INT prone. Seau is old. Terrell Buckley is old and overrated (I should know he was in Green Bay for 2 years) but spent more time in Miami.

Just face. The Fins aren't gonna be as good as you think they will.

And how much ever times you say it. Getting the players isn't everything. Its only half the equation. Coaching is the other half.

In 99 the Pack went 8-8 when they would have been 9-7/10-6 with a good coach like Sherman. But they had Ray Rhodes. And he just couldn't handle the Pack.

And if you say 9-7 big difference with 8-8. Well it just turns out that if Green Bay went 9-7 in 1999 they would have went to the playoffs instead of the Cowboys who were also 8-8 but had a tiebreaker over the Pack.
