Duke-IU, Sweet 16, 2002

Featured Replies

probably my favorite game of my 4 years at IU

just awesome

3pm today on Classic I believe

That was such a great game, It looked over for sure a little over halfway through the 1st half, and then the great comeback. Despite that, I still hate Tom Coverdale and Dane Fife.

Tom Coverdale!!! I completley forgot about him. The best thing ever was when he hit that 40 foot shot to send a game into overtime in December of 2002.

nah i remember they were a true juggernaut but the end of the game there was crazy

Duke had like what, 4 future pros on that team?

IU just wanted it alot more...Duke thought that because of their talent it would be a given for them.

IU deserved that sucker.

I forgot how much IU was down so early.... They came out so flat

I remember listening to that game coming back from spring training in Florida. That game was a "godsend" in passing away some time.

Edit: 5 Future Pros.... (Thw whole starting lineup)

I forgot how bad Dunleavy shot in that game too...we had no rhythym and Dunleavy was brick city.

I edited that and put 5...Ewing hasnt gotten drafted yet, so I cant sya him but yeah then 6.

Casey Sanders was about the only other one who played, and we all know about his success.. :plain

Ewing was the only member of that recruiting class...

Duke struck out on David Lee and some others in that class.

So sad what happened to him...really is...top 5 favorite players ever there.

He wrote me a hand written letter after his accident after I sent him a few notes...great person and probably the only player that will get their jersey retired at Duke after just three years.

This year's Carolina team reminds me a lot of that 2002 Duke team actually in terms of all the great players and future pro's the team had.

Oh, and it's terrible what happened to Jason Williams, he's one of the few players that I really liked even when he was at Duke, and he really seemed like a nice kid. And of course the fact that he was on the Bulls made it even a bit harder to swallow.

I dunno if Boozer was fouled but Moye certainly was stripped clean just moments earlier

It doesnt matter...that team got real cocky in the tournament and it caught up to them...oh well.

I have more of a problem about foul calling against UConn last year....

No ref in that building was going to give Okafor his 5th foul that game...none of them.

the play ill remember in that game was boozers last put back when he just threw it up there like there was no time left, even though there was like 3 secs left
