Pedro is my hero

Martinez's most impressive at-bat came when he ended the first inning by blowing away Carlos Delgado with a fastball. Martinez then appeared to glare at Delgado, but the pitcher insisted, "It wasn't a look to him. I was looking at the fan that was talking a lot of crap."

Let the s*** talking commence...

Delgado responded by hitting a no-doubt homer, a towering shot deep to right field off Victor Zambrano on the first pitch of the fourth inning.

Quite the accomplishment. :thumbup

Hopefully a rivalry brews that will bring the Marlins some national attention. The attention would help with fan base, because naturally the American public will side with the poor underdog.

The Marlins-Expos rivalry wasn't exactly an attention getter.

Pedro looked good yesterday...i was 3 rows up on the first base side and you could hear the zip on his fastball....

one thing though,Delgado's HR was a bomb...on the first pitch to....of victor zambrano

I agree, a good inter-divisional rivalry would be fun.

I can see a run at end of the season between us and Braves for division winner, something along the lines of it going down to the last game. That'd be enough for national media to sell it

Yeah that homer almost hit my house. Luckily Mike Lowell was visiting and caught it before it hit a window.

I was talking less about the K and more about the attitude he brings to the team. We have been in dire need of someone like him.

You traded your best pitching prospect for him.

Yeah, It's not like Doc won Rookie of the Year, a Cy Young, or a World Series trophy. How many pitches has Jeffy thrown at the Major League level?
