Veteran Squad

One thing I think is going to really give us an advantage later on in the season is the experience this team has in the rotation, in the bullpen, and on the bench. This is probably the most veteran team we have had in a long time... And I think it will shine through.

I would've hoped a game like tonight is where a veteran or two would come in handy, on offense anyway. It did in the bullpen- that's the most comfortable I've ever felt with our bullpen emptying one-by-one.

If you want positives, look no further than the fact that both Perisho and Bump will be gone once Spooney and Riedling come back.

I hear ya there, as far as the bullpen goes. We looked surprisingly professional out there, which is pretty reassuring given last year's experience with relievers.

Easely had that pinch-hit double that could have VERY easily been a huge hit off the bench...

It's shown to be a positive influence on the 'pen.

As far as the offense goes, these have been (mostly) our guys for the past 3 years so "veteran" or not we've come to expect what they give us. The only two surprises this year can be Cabrera (who has just about no ceiling this year) and Gonzalez (who may finally put it all together in a contract year). Other than that, you know what Delgado, Lowell, Castillo, LoDuca and Pierre are good for, and who knows how the Encarnacion/Conine situation will resolve itself...
