Ramon Castro

Gotta say Castro got his paybacks. Not quite sure how I feel about that. Kinda crappy, kinda happy, very little inbetween.

Happy? You crazy?

No matter what you may believe about what happened that one night in Pittsburgh or Castro's final game with the Marlins or his true impact on a team's chances last year, he's a former Marlin who felt wronged. I like the Loria ownership very much, but if the Marlins wanted him off the active roster last year and didn't plan to keep him, a fact that was made certain late July when they picked up LoDuca, they should have released him.

I dont know whether hes guilty or not b/c had he gone to trral he probably would have lost. When cases go to trial theres an 80% chance that the defendant will be found guilty. So by pleading no contest and sucking it up he has potentially averted worse penalties.

He plead no contest and was convicted, he even formally apologized to the women in a full page advertisement in a Pittsburgh newspaper for any pain he caused her, if you still think he is innocent, then I don't know what to tell you.

Did he probably do it? Yes.

Do we know for a fact? No

Did he plead guilty? No. And you explicitly said he did. That is a bold faced lie, and I wanted you to correct yourself, thats it. I can't stand when people blatantly get facts wrong or lie.

"Everyone makes mistakes," Castro's wife, Brenda, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Even his wife thinks he's guilty.

One of Castro's defense attorneys, Cynthia Eddy, told WPXI-TV that he entered the plea "because he doesn't want his family to be put through any further embarrassment and he wants to get on with his life."

His lawyers knew he would have lost and lost badly had it gone to trial.

No innocent man has ever plead no contest.

Infact at least 2 men have:

...

However in both cases the prosecutors used the stick of threatening to contest the judge?s order that could result in the men spending more years behind bars before their possible release, to entice each man to bite at the carrot of an immediate release by pleading no-contest to a crime neither man committed.

...

Yet after ordering a re-trial based on compelling defense favorable evidence, the judge in both the Yurko and Coleman cases took the ?logically insupportable? step of accepting a no-contest plea, sentencing the men to time served, and then ordering their immediate release.

PhishPhan, you have no idea so shut up about it.

Thank you.

Once again, either of you...

Show me where he pleaded guilty.

It is simple. Just show it.

That goes for you and anyone suspecting Castro's guilt, btw.

Before you make such a claim, provide some proof. And it doesn't matter. It doesn't belong here. If it did, this board would be full of topics on Jones' homophobia and Delgado's war stance. Sheesh, even the Miguel Cabrera is cute threads have been less frequent. They're ballplayers. Not doctors and teachers. Talk about thier physical and mental abilities as it pertains to the game. Not the off-field crap. Especially when you ahve no idea about it.

No innocent man has ever plead no contest.

You said it... I found the truth. Like I said I won't stand by and let people just flat out lie.

So now you have two statements to retract. Unless you have proof that Castro admitted guilt, or proof that no innocent person ever pleaded no contest.
