Florida Marlins pitcher A.J. Burnett, who earned two complete-game victories this week, has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week of April 11-17, 2005. Bank of America, the official bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect the bank's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

The right-handed hurler led the league with two complete games, 18.0 innings pitched and was tied for the league lead with two wins. Over his two performances, Burnett posted a 2.00 ERA while permitting 12 hits and four runs with three walks and eight strikeouts. Burnett now has 12 career complete games, placing him on top of Florida's list of all-time leaders.

Good job, AJ.

AJ deserves it. He avoided the big inning in both games and won. At least he trying to keep his arm in health by using other pitches.

The watch's maker used to be the sponsor of the Player of the Week. Can't remember if it is Boliva, Rolex, or Armitron.

I love seeing AJ recognized like this, it is so great to see our young guns finally starting to live up to all the potential, now they just have to keep this going all season long.
