Burnett, who earned two complete-game victories this week, has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week of April 11-17, 2005. Bank of America, the official bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect the bank's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment. The right-handed hurler led the league with two complete games, 18.0 innings pitched and was tied for the league lead with two wins. Over his two performances, Burnett posted a 2.00 ERA while permitting 12 hits and four runs with three walks and eight strikeouts. Burnett now has 12 career complete games, placing him on top of Florida's list of all-time leaders. Other nominees this past week included Burnett's Florida teammate, Dontrelle Willis (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 SO); Edgardo Alfonzo (.526, 6 runs, 4 RBI) and Michael Tucker (.375, 2 HR, 9 RBI) of the Giants; Washington's Vinny Castilla (.538, 2 HR, 8 RBI), Jose Vidro (.444, 1 HR, 8 RBI) and Jose Guillen (.318 3 HR, 5 RBI); Jeff Kent (.353, 3 HR, 5 RBI), Milton Bradley (.389 2 HR, 6 RBI) and Derek Lowe (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 SO) of the Dodgers; Pittsburgh's Rob Mackowiak (.500, 1 HR, 3 RBI) and David Ross (.368, 3 HR, 5 RBI); Derrek Lee (.429, 1 HR, 9 RBI) and Neifi Perez (.526, 1 HR, 3 RBI) of the Cubs; New York's Aaron Heilman (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 SO); Jason Lane (.296, 3 HR, 8 RBI) of the Astros; Milwaukee's Brady Clark (.520, 2 HR, 5 RBI); Clint Barmes (.400, 2 HR, 6 RBI) of the Rockies; Cincinnati's Joe Randa (.368, 1 HR, 4 RBI); and Jason Marquis (2-0, 1.26 ERA, 11 SO) of the Cardinals.
