Stratton... first base?

Featured Replies

Can't confirm on Isotopes web-site... is Stratton getting any time at first base? Long-time D. Lee fan, I groan now when he takes his long, slow swing. Bottom-line, I'd like to see us bring up some prospects before September. Might be expensive to make room but we need to do something dramatic.

Too bad he can't play LF at all....there's no chance of him getting any time at 1B. Lee never needs a rest apparently. Sure they give a day off to Castillo and it helps, Lowell and it helps, Pudge gets a rest once a week at least. But DLee? Nope.

Maybe Cabs is picking it up a little... home run and triple in past 2 games.

I know what you meant bu your post, but your line "Lee never needs a rest apparently" caught my eye.

Personally, I think that might be exactly what he needs, a day or two off, and a few more throughout the rest of the season. He's already proven he's an ironman, he's already set the Marlin's consecutive games played record, sit the guy down once in awhile (not necessarily this weekend) LIKE EVERY OTHER GUY ON THE TEAM.

I have to agree with you here....seems that when a player sees someone else playing there starting spot they do there best to make sure it never happens again...could be a good motivator...but if it hasnt happened yet..it probably wont.

Stratton hasnt played a game at 1B all season and I would never replace Lee with him. :plain

All I asked was: is Stratton getting tested at first base by the 'Topes? Good Grief. My comments about bringing up prospects before September was ignored. And I get a big graphic from a Fruit Looper. (?)

If they jsut want to keep his streak alive jsut put D Lee in to Pitch Hit or somethin later in games so he can still have some rest..

I think its less an issue of physical rest then mental rest and knowing your going to be out there tomorrow anyway. I'd love to see him get a full day off.

I can guarantee you one thing, Jack McKeon could care less about Lee or anyone elses personal records when it come to wins and losses. I'm sure Jack knows better than anyone else theres no "I" in "team" and when he feels it neccessary he'll sit him down for a rest.

Sham, good to see we agreed on something. There is hope afterall. :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

Stratton is playing RF as of now which requires the more athleticism of the 2 OF spots. I'm assuming he could convert to 1B without hurting us too much defensively...Hes had a few days off and maybe he will take a new approach at the plate and lookf or his pitch as opposed to going after every pitch. A switch to 1B is an option, but it seems we have nice depth there already...our OF depth isnt as solid as 1B..so I say keep him out there...a move to LF seems likely if he sees the ML's.

Thanks Shamrock for answering my question.

NP! I hope his mindset is more patience at the plate...we'll see...Ill hold judgement on him until he completes the 2nd half.
