I figured it would be cool to have an elite hall of fame...unlike the real hall of fame which is watered down, this one will only have one player from each hall of fame class starting with the first year...each round, another hall of fame class will be added along to every player to have received at least 1 vote the previous round....votes from earlier rounds count too

If any player fails to receive a single vote in any round, they are removed from any future voting

First off: 1936 class

Nominees:

Ty Cobb

Walter Johnson

Christy Mathewson

Babe Ruth

Honus Wagner

How can you not include one of those guys? The idea is already dumb.

they will have future chances, and if they are eliminated they will be up for a "reinsertion vote"

Babe Ruth for sure

It's sad that the Big Train doesn't have a vote

The Babe on that list...even though all those guys were unreal in their own ways.

Babe blows the others out of the water. But I refuse to vote. Walter Johnson, in my eyes, may have been the greatest pitcher to ever live. Wagner was as good as they came as was Mathewson and Ty Cobb.

i like the idea, but to do one for 1936 isn't what i like about it

these 5 guys were considered the 5 greatest players ever in 1936, you can't just vote only one in. You'll always be a couple guys behind. Just start in 1938 with these 5 and Cy Young in as well, that would make more sense to me.

Ty Cobb was the best hitter to ever pick up a bat. Like him or hate him, he made baseball the competitive game it is today.

You're the first guy i've ever known to see it my way

Wow

I don't care who you root for, you're awesome

To appreciate what Ty Cobb did all you need to know can be summarized in one quote:

"Baseball was one-hundred percent of my life."

He lived hard, but he played harder. A lot of great players had faults. Hell, the guy winning this pole, Babe Ruth, was a womanizer and an alcoholic.

A drunk who had some fun with groupies is a hell of a lot better than a cheating, racist, abusive, bigot who played for blood and physically ended the careers of countless players.
