Posted May 23, 200520 yr May 21 The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams intended to give SP Orlando Hernandez (shoulder) some days off to save his arm, which is why he placed the pitcher on the 15-day disabled list instead of letting him pitch through shoulder discomfort. "We were fully intending to give Hernandez a breather here and there, with regards to off-days, scheduling, All-Star break, etc.," Williams said. "We're not looking for 34 starts, we're looking for 30 starts. If we have to do this on occasion or shuffling, so be it." May 22 The White Sox placed Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with soreness in his right shoulder. Recommendation: The move is retroactive to last Tuesday, making Hernandez eligible to return on June 2. Taking his place on the roster will be Brandon McCarthy, who will make his major league debut against the Cubs on Sunday after being called up from Triple A Charlotte. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6019/news

May 23, 200520 yr Brandon McCarthy is really, really good. As long as we keep 5 of the big 6 healthy at all times, no dropoff should be expected.
