A Longstanding MLB Record that could fall ...

Featured Replies

Jose Reyes has seven triples this season all in a ten gamespan -- and is on a dangerous pace to break Dale Mitchell's post-war record of 23 triples in season. Currently Reyes projects to finish with 23. The last MLBer to hit 20 triples in a season was Christian Guzman in 2000.

Didn't someone once call the triple the most exciting play in baseball>

I thought it was the inside the park homerun that was the most exciting?

I may be wrong.

Tom Seaver has said it a couple of times on air on the WB11... They said if Reyes was a Marlin he'd have 25+ because of playing at "Dolphins Stadium".

I think an inside the park homer is more exciting than a triple...afterall, in a triple the batter only runs to 3rd base, but in an inside the park homer the batter runs all around and scores...

But Hank Aaron said the triple is the most exciting play in baseball:

"The triple is the most exciting play in baseball. Home runs win a lot of games, but I never understood why fans are so obsessed with them."

And the Marlins are about to lose the 7 of their past 8 games to those 4th place Mets, Pirates, and Phils. Thanks for the lift :thumbup

The triple is definitely one of my favorite plays in baseball.

However, all of you are wrong. The strike him out/throw him out double play is the most exciting, by far.
