AJ returns tomorrow.

If AJ wasn't injured, we wouldn't have had that Frank Castillo/Yorman Bazardo disaster of a game which set the tone for the rest of the week and we probably would have at least split the Mets series -- at least.

PITTSBURGH -- Florida right-hander A.J. Burnett is scheduled to make his 10th start of the season on Tuesday night against Pittsburgh after missing his last start due to inflamation in his right elbow.

Burnett reported no problems in the bullpen session he tossed on Saturday.

"My bullpen was good," Burnett said. "I threw in the bullpen for about 11 minutes and it was pretty intense. I was throwing everything."

Burnett, who came back from Tommy John surgery in 2003, joked that he had been in contact with the man who performed that surgery, Dr. James Andrews of Birmingham, Ala.

"He said, 'You throw too hard for too long,'" said Burnett, offering some dark humor. "I said, 'I'm sorry, but I thought that was a good thing.' He said, 'Well, you're putting a lot of pressure on your elbow and you're throwing too hard, you need to learn how to pitch a little bit.' He was joking with me. I said, 'In that case, you better go ahead and make me an appointment for June, I'll be back in here next year.'"

Manager Jack McKeon feels that Burnett is ready to go.

"Burnett's fine, he's going to be raring to go, and there are no problems with him."

Burnett is looking forward to the start in Pittsburgh.

"This is a great ballpark," Burnett explained. "The dimensions are perfect. I think it is the best of the new ballparks. I like pitching here."

Burnett is 1-1 in two career starts at PNC Park with a 3.46 ERA.

Aren't you guys tied for 1st?

1 game out at most, no need to panic....the East is going to be a battle all year, simple as that.

Yes, tied for 1st since ATL can't win when we lose and vice versa. :thumbup

Two ways to look at this though:

1) It's frustrating as hell that we couldn't put some distance between us and the rest of the division with Atlanta struggling big time.

2) It's fortunate that as bad as we've played, we're still in first. I guess no one wants to win this division ;) .
