Your AL Starting All-Star Lineup...per the fans.

Featured Replies

C - Jason Varitek

1B - Tino Martinez

2B - Brian Roberts

3B - Alex Rodriguez

SS - Miguel Tejada

OF - Manny Ramirez

OF - Ichiro

OF - Vladimir Guerrero

DH - David Ortiz

Its a very AL East lineup...

Manny should be dropped from starting.

Tino should be on the team, but I dont know about starting...I like Sweeney in his place.

The large Japanese voting quadrant needs to get behind the man who has the same nickname as you at the 2B spot (although Roberts deserves it of course, but this is the All Star Game, so that doesn't matter).

Iguchi, Soriano, and Roberts all deserve their spot on the roster.

But if they only take 2, Iguchi will be snubbed.

That's exactly what I was thinking, and Iguchi is gonna get left off unless he starts, so yeah.

IIRC, the votes come from stadiums in spurts. While it wouldn't surprise me one bit that the AL East would dominate any AL all-star team, I wouldn't be sure the results out west have been counted yet.

How can we find an updated vote count?

I think this was the last update released by MLB.com

Iguchi better make the allstar team, if not, it's another reason not to watch it.

He deserves it over Roberts AND Soriano?

Boston leads way in AL All-Star voting

Boston's DH David Ortiz (right), outfielder Manny Ramirez (left) and catcher Jason Varitek lead the voting at their respective positions. (Elise Amendola/AP)

As Red Sox Nation going to set up shop in Detroit, at least temporarily? Boston could be in position to turn Comerica Park into a Fenway Park annex in early July, if the latest results in voting for the All-Star Game are any indication.

Three members of the defending World Series champions continue to lead at their positions -- catcher Jason Varitek, outfielder Manny Ramirez and DH David Ortiz. Boston's designated hitter leads all AL players on the ballot in votes received with 958,811.

A pair of Red Sox are also runners-up at their position, interestingly to the only two Yankees running No. 1. Bill Mueller ranks second behind Alex Rodriguez at third base, albeit by over 500,000 votes, and first baseman Kevin Millar trails Tino Martinez by nearly 141,000 votes.

Boston center fielder Johnny Damon is also a runner-up, in a sense, among outfielders. He ranks fourth, behind the leading trio of Ramirez, Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki and Vladimir Guerrero of the Angels. Meanwhile, Boston's third outfielder, Trot Nixon, made one of the biggest moves of the week by going from ninth to seventh in the voting, leapfrogging Sammy Sosa and Torii Hunter.

It should be like this

1B

Teixeira, M. - He has been a monster this year and carried the Rangers.

Konerko, P. - His average has been rising and 15 HR so far. He also is on the 1st place team so I give him it over Sexon

Sweeney - Having an Outstanding year with nothing around him.

2B

Roberts, B. Has been lights out

Soriano, A. Always at the top, wonder where he will end up traded to.

Iguchi Having a good year so far.

Shortstop

Tejada, M. enough said

Young, M. Having a pretty good year

Jeter, D. Not even the best SS on his team

3rd

Rodriguez, A. Having a great year, proving he is a "true yankee"

Blalock, H. Is there another 3B that you would rather have at the plate?

Not sure for the third one out there. Nobody else has really impressed me hugely.

Catcher

Varitek, J. Has the best "stats" so far

Posada, J. switcher hitter at catcher, hmm.

Rodriguez, I. Pudge has lost a little weight and bat speed.

Util:

I dont bother with it, I dont believe the DH should exist, Real Men play their positions.

OF:

Suzuki, I. Hits, SB, he is perfect in both seemingly.

S. Podsednik He is gonna break the SB record for a year.

Sheffield, G. Having a pretty good year

Pitchers:

R. Halladay

Jo. Santana

B. Col?n

M. Buehrle (Better era, whip, ks and Innings pitched then Garland, why placed him instead)

K. Rogers

J. Bonderman (Besides getting rocked yesterday he has been lights out)

closers

B. Ryan

J. Nathan

M. Rivera

This is my person thoughts of the AL team should be. But, I am more a NL guy though :)

Your rotation sucks...

Matt Clement deserves it over Jeremy Bonderman, who has NOT been lights out by a long shot.

Colon does not deserve it over Jon Garland or Erik Bedard.

And get off your NL high horse with the DH comment.

Dustin Hermanson has a 1.08 ERA and 13 saves to Mariano Rivera's 2-2 record and 1.33 ERA with 13 saves. They both schould make it, but if you have to pick, go with the closer with the 1st place team.

Podsednik? No. .290, 0, 14, 31

How about Damon? .348, 1, 31, 7

Garret Anderson is a better option then Sheff, .313, 7, 47 > .310, 10, 38

I had forgotten about Clement. I will agree about him.

I was going to play Hermanson over Rivera but changed my opinion on that one. I think that is closer to a toss up, but Rivera because of his years of good play should go over him.

I would still stick with Bonderman over Colon.

I still believe Podsednik should go for the SB and for his Runs scored. He has been the motor of that offense and a 290 average isnt too bad to top it off.

Damon, I thought was on the DL currently and would be for a few months still? That is why I didnt include him.

Colon: 7-3, 3.10, 65 SO, .292 BAA

Bonderman: 6-4, 3.90 ERA, 67 SO , .301 BAA

Go with the numbers, go with the better team, go with Colon.

Podsednik probably deserves to be on the team, but not start.

Damon is not on the DL.

Wow Colon and Bonderman are both extremely lucky.

.292 Average against? .301? Sheesh.
